Your role
We’re looking for a Product Designer to help shape the future of Spendesk’s product experience, with a particular focus on AI-powered and automation-driven workflows.
You’ll work within a cross-functional squad alongside Product Managers and Engineers to design and deliver experiences that solve meaningful user problems and create value for both customers and the business.
You’ll take ownership of design work from problem definition through to delivery and iteration. We’re looking for someone who can work autonomously within their product area, develop a strong understanding of users and workflows, explore different approaches, and make thoughtful design decisions grounded in evidence.
A key part of this role will also be helping us evolve Spendesk’s design system. We’re looking for someone with hands-on experience building a comprehensive design system: not only defining reusable components and patterns, but also establishing the documentation, contribution processes, governance, and ways of working that make a system scalable and sustainable across teams.
You’ll collaborate closely with Product, Engineering, and other designers throughout the process: clarifying problems, contributing to discovery, designing and validating solutions, ensuring quality through implementation, and helping teams adopt shared standards consistently.
You’ll also contribute to the wider design team by sharing knowledge, giving constructive feedback, and helping us continuously improve our product experience and design practices.
Design at Spendesk
The Product Design team plays a strategic role in shaping Spendesk’s platform and user experience. We simplify complex financial and operational workflows, helping finance teams, managers, employees, and administrators make informed decisions with greater efficiency, visibility, and confidence.
Designers work as partners within cross-functional teams, collaborating with Product, Engineering, Data, and other stakeholders throughout discovery, design, delivery, and iteration. We conduct research directly with users and use qualitative and quantitative evidence to inform our decisions.
We care deeply about systems thinking, information architecture, and consistency across the platform. Our design system is a core part of how we create coherent experiences at scale, and we are continuing to strengthen both the system itself and the processes that support its adoption and evolution.
As AI and automation become increasingly central to financial operations, we’re exploring how intelligent systems can help users move faster while maintaining transparency, trust, and control.
What you’ll do
- Own end-to-end design work within your product area, from problem definition through delivery and iteration.
- Build a strong understanding of your users, workflows, product context, and the business and technical constraints affecting your work.
- Partner with Product Managers and Engineers to clarify problems, goals, assumptions, and success measures.
- Conduct appropriate user research and validation to inform design decisions and reduce uncertainty.
- Explore multiple solutions, evaluate trade-offs, and communicate clear rationale behind your decisions.
- Design intuitive, accessible, and consistent workflows that simplify complex financial and operational tasks.
- Help evolve the design system across components, patterns, documentation, contribution models, governance, and adoption processes, partnering closely with Design and Engineering.
- Use customer feedback and product data to evaluate outcomes, iterate on solutions, and contribute knowledge and feedback to the wider design team.

- Good product thinking, with the ability to connect user needs, product goals, business context, and technical constraints.
- Experience conducting user research and validating solutions with users.
- Hands-on experience building or significantly evolving a comprehensive design system, including reusable components and patterns as well as documentation, contribution processes, governance, and adoption.
- Strong collaboration and communication skills, including experience partnering with Engineers and other designers to establish shared standards and ways of working.
- Strong organisation and autonomy, with the ability to prioritise work, respond to changing context, and proactively move projects forward.
Nice to have
- Experience designing AI-assisted workflows or conversational experiences.
- Experience working in fintech, spend management, procurement, or internal tooling.
