Join us in decoding a new layer of pediatric cancer biology!
Open since Oct 08, 2026
Introduction
Our FWF Emerging Fields Consortium brings together six complementary research groups (Falk, Grebien, Hein, Karagöz, Seruggia, Tomazou) across leading biomedical research institutions in Vienna to investigate the ribosome and translational control as a new and largely unexplored layer of pediatric cancer biology and therapy resistance.

About the research project
By combining cutting-edge genomic, proteomic, biochemical and structural approaches, we aim to decode cancer-specific mechanisms of translational regulation, the “ribosome code”, and iden-tify novel therapeutic vulnerabilities that could lead to safer and more effective treatments for children and adolescents with solid and hematological cancers.
As a postdoctoral researcher, you will join one of the participating research groups while being part of a multidisciplinary consortium bringing together complementary expertise in pediatric cancer, translational regulation, RNA biology, functional genomics, proteomics and structural biology.
Candidates
Successful candidates should have
a PhD in molecular biology, cancer biology, biochemistry, molecular medicine, genomics, bioinformatics, structural biology or a related field
a strong scientific track record appropriate to your career stage
research experience relevant to at least one of the participating groups
a strong interest in interdisciplinary and collaborative research
the ability to work independently while contributing effectively to a collaborative research environment
excellent written and spoken English
Application
Applications should contain a one-page research statement outlining your scientific interests, how they connect to the aims of the Emerging Fields Consortium, and the research questions you would be particularly interested in pursuing. Furthermore, it should include the following documents:
Indication of the two research groups you are most interested in joining
CV
Contact details of two academic referees
