Job description
PURPOSE – in 3-4 sentences, briefly describe the overall purpose of the role, i.e. why the role exists
Shift Manager role is to lead, plan, and take full responsibility for the daily production, performance, and well‑being of the assigned group. The role is responsibility for production targets and regulations regarding safety, quality, volume, and delivery are met through effective daily management and strong ownership of the team. Close collaboration with other groups and cross‑functional teams within the factory area is essential to resolve issues quickly, minimize downtime, and ensure a stable and efficient production flow.
As a manager, the role acts as a role model, drives continuous improvement, and ensures compliance with company policies and safety standards.
ACCOUNTABILITIES – describe role accountabilities/responsibilities, i.e. what the role does. Should cover the following:
- Take full accountability for the daily operation and performance of the assigned production group, with an active presence on the production floor to observe processes, understand challenges, and identify improvement opportunities through GEMBA.
- Maintain close and continuous dialogue with operators to gather insights, provide support, and ensure engagement in daily production and improvement activities.
- Collaborate closely with other production groups and cross‑functional functions within the factory area to ensure aligned priorities, efficient workflows, and fast resolution of disturbances affecting safety, quality, delivery, or efficiency.
- Lead, coordinate, and follow up on continuous improvement and Kaizen activities, ensuring that improvements are implemented and sustained in daily operations.
- Organize and conduct training, certifications, and onboarding activities for new and existing operators, including introducing structured training plans.
- Ensure the right level of competence on the shift and drive competence development.
- Act as a visible, accessible, and supportive leader, fostering a positive and safe working environment in line with company values and policies.
- Ensure clear and open communication between operators, management, and other groups within the factory, including follow‑up and communication of department KPIs to the team and site management.
- Drive and maintain high standards in safety, quality, and delivery, including responsibility for internal quality targets, on‑time delivery, safety inspections, and weekly 5S audits with related improvements.
- Participate in the development and updating of SOPs as a sponsor, ensuring alignment across groups and adherence to standard ways of working.
- Manage administrative and leadership responsibilities, including approval of time reports, follow‑up of KPIs, and full people‑management responsibility such as annual performance and development reviews, salary discussions, rehabilitation, and work environment responsibility.

Target Market Salary Range:
Actual compensation packages take into account a wide range of factors that are unique to each candidate, including but not limited to geographic location; skill sets; relevant education and certifications; depth of experience; performance; and other business and organizational needs.
