AI Network Cloud Lead Engineer

We’re looking for an AI Network Cloud Lead Engineer to join us at Telia.

About the Role

I’m Giovanni Mumolo , a line manager of IT Development, Tech Network Common Infrastructure and I’m searching for someone ready to grow with us. We are on a journey from traditional automation to Intelligent Platform Engineering.

My team develops and operates cloud-native automation solutions that support tenant onboarding, applications lifecycle management, artifact acquisition, CI/CD pipelines, observability reporting, and operational workflows across a large-scale Telco Cloud environment.

We are now looking for an AI Network Cloud Lead Engineer to help us introduce AI capabilities into our platforms and services.

You will be the technical leader driving the adoption of Generative AI, AI agents, and intelligent automation across our cloud platform. Working closely with automation engineers, platform engineers, product/business owners, you will identify and implement practical use cases, build proof-of-concepts, bring them to production, establish architectural patterns, and help transform our automation platform into an AI-enabled service offering.

This role combines biz acumen, architecture, innovation, software engineering.

Your Mission

Help evolve our organization from automated workflows to Intelligent, AI-assisted operational platforms.

You will introduce AI capabilities that improve engineer productivity, simplify tenant interactions, and enhance operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

• Define the target implementation architecture for AI-enabled platform services.
• Establish standards, patterns, and governance for AI solutions.
• Continuously evaluate emerging AI technologies and frameworks and their maturity for adoption.
• Support prioritization of business cases for NCI.
• Design AI agents capable of supporting operational workflows.
• Design and implement AI-powered solutions using both cloud and on-prem LLM platforms.
• Integrate AI capabilities into CI/CD and platform automation services.

Required Qualifications

• Deep knowledge of one SW programming language (python or Java or …).
• Strong practical experience implementing Generative AI solutions.
• Strong understanding of LLM architectures and capabilities.
• Experience with prompt engineering and AI application design.
• Experience building and integrating RAG solutions.
• Experience with AI agent frameworks (e.g. langchain) and orchestration tools (e.g. n8n, airflow, ).
• Understanding of AI limitations, evaluation, and governance.
• some knowledge in Cloud operation is a plus.
• Fluency in English, both written and spoken. Swedish language skills are considered an advantage.

What success looks like after one year

• Established an AI strategy and roadmap for the team.
• Introduced some AI engineering best practice across the NCI organization.
• Delivered two production AI-enabled platform capabilities.
