The role: What's in the Box
As a Sr. Finance Business Partner for Cost of Goods and Packaging, you will be a core member of the BNL & Nordics Finance Team, reporting directly to the Associate Director of FP&A for Nordics & Benelux. This is a high-impact, hands-on role where you will serve as the primary finance partner for supply chain, procurement, and distribution centre leadership across both the BNL and Nordics markets.
Based in Amsterdam, you will embed yourself in the operational and commercial detail of our distribution centres, build trusted relationships with procurement and operations counterparts across markets, and translate cost data into clear financial insights for senior stakeholders. Beyond COGs and packaging, you will also have the opportunity to contribute to broader finance projects across the BNL and Nordics region, gaining exposure to the full P&L and a wide range of strategic and operational workstreams.
What you'll do: The Recipe
- Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A): Lead COGs and packaging budgeting, forecasting, and month-end close for BNL and Nordics, incorporating inflation, menu mix dynamics, and specification changes.
- Variance Analysis & Cost Bridges: Conduct variance analysis and build cost bridges against budget and prior year—decomposing drivers like price inflation, volume, menu mix, waste, and yield loss for executive stakeholders.
- Business Partnering: Serve as the primary finance partner to Procurement, Menu Planning, and DC Operations to track supplier pricing, contract renewals, sustainability impacts, and operational performance.
- Automated Reporting Suite: Own and continuously improve the regional COGs reporting suite, including theoretical consumption models, cost-per-box assumptions, and DC-level cost tracking.
- Data Tooling & Technical Automation: Leverage SQL and Databricks to automate COGs data pipelines and eliminate manual reporting overhead.
- Theoretical vs. Actual Benchmarking: Monitor theoretical vs. delivered COGs performance to identify, explain, and mitigate gaps driven by operational waste, yield loss, and menu composition.
- Cross-Functional & Strategic Initiatives: Collaborate with central FP&A and broader finance teams on strategic projects, cross-functional efficiency drives, and continuous model improvement.
What you'll bring: The Ingredients
- At least five years of experience in FP&A or commercial finance, with a demonstrable focus on COGs, procurement finance, supply chain, or manufacturing cost management.
- Strong understanding of food or FMCG cost structures - ideally including ingredient pricing, packaging, and DC operational costs.
- Hands-on, analytical, and intellectually curious - with the confidence to interrogate cost data, challenge numbers, and validate outputs.
- Proven ability to build relationships with operational and procurement stakeholders and translate complex cost dynamics into clear business insight.
- Comfortable operating across multiple markets simultaneously, with the adaptability to navigate different business contexts and stakeholder environments.
- Strong SQL skills, with experience querying large datasets in cloud or data warehouse environments (Databricks experience a plus).
- Proficiency with Google Workspace (Sheets, Slides, Docs) and Microsoft Office (Excel).
- Experience in a subscription business or high-volume, low-margin consumer environment is a plus.
- Fluency in English required; Dutch or another BNL language is an advantage.
