Position Summary
A warm, active international family is seeking a highly experienced and engaging live-in nanny to care for their two-year-old daughter on a permanent, long-term basis.
The position will initially begin in the Netherlands, with the nanny later relocating with the family to Curaçao, where they expect to spend approximately eight months of the year. The family will continue to spend around four months each year in the Netherlands.
Their little girl is bubbly, happy, playful and full of life. She is following a settled routine, and the family would like their nanny to build naturally upon this, combining structure and consistency with a child-led approach that encourages curiosity, independence and plenty of play.
The mother will be at home and wishes to remain closely involved in her daughter’s day-to-day life. This is therefore a collaborative, shared-care position rather than a traditional sole-charge role.
Role Context / Family Environment
Both parents speak Dutch, while the nanny will be expected to communicate confidently in English.
The family enjoys a healthy and active lifestyle, with sport, nutritious food and time outdoors forming a natural part of family life. They would love to find a nanny who shares this outlook and enjoys creating active, engaging days for a young child.
The family values a balanced approach to early childhood, respecting their daughter’s interests and natural curiosity whilst also providing the reassuring structure, boundaries and consistency that are important at this age.
The nanny may not be required for full-time active childcare every day; however, the family would like to employ someone on a full-time basis who can provide continuity, flexibility and reliable availability according to the family’s needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide warm, attentive and developmentally appropriate care for the two-year-old.
- Maintain and gradually adapt her established routine as she develops.
- Plan engaging, age-appropriate activities, outings and play opportunities.
- Support her physical, emotional, social and cognitive development through everyday experiences and play.
- Encourage independence, confidence and curiosity whilst maintaining clear and consistent boundaries.
- Prepare healthy meals and snacks for the child and encourage positive eating habits.
- Take responsibility for nursery duties relating to the child.
- Work collaboratively with the mother, respecting her hands-on involvement and maintaining open and thoughtful communication.
- Support the child’s routine and wellbeing during travel and transitions between the Netherlands and Curaçao.
- Prepare and organise the child’s belongings for travel and help her settle comfortably between both family homes.
- Prioritise the child’s safety at all times, particularly around water and during travel.
Candidate Requirements
- Fluent English speaker.
- Proven professional nanny experience with toddlers and children of a similar age.
- Previous experience travelling internationally with young children.
- Confident managing the routines and developmental needs of a two-year-old.
- Strong swimmer and completely confident supervising a young child around water.
- Up-to-date paediatric First Aid and CPR.
- Childcare or early-years qualification desirable.
- Good understanding of child development and age-appropriate activities.
- Comfortable working in a shared-care environment alongside a hands-on mother.
- Flexible and adaptable to living between the Netherlands and Curaçao.
- Professional, reliable and an excellent communicator.
- Seeking a genuine long-term position.
Additional Information
This is a full-time salaried position based on availability and flexibility rather than a fixed 40-hour working week. There may be quieter periods when considerably fewer hours of active childcare are required, alongside periods when the family needs greater support.
The schedule will be organised in advance wherever possible, although flexibility will be important around family plans, activities and travel.
The family is looking for a nanny who understands the balance required in a shared-care role: someone confident enough to take initiative and responsibility when needed, but equally comfortable stepping back and allowing the parents to enjoy time with their daughter.
Ideal Candidate Profile
The ideal nanny will be warm, energetic and naturally engaging, with the maturity and emotional intelligence to work successfully alongside a hands-on mother.
She will enjoy getting down on the floor to play, spending time outdoors, swimming and creating interesting experiences for a lively toddler, whilst appreciating the importance of routine, boundaries and consistency.
This role would particularly suit a highly experienced nanny who enjoys a healthy, active lifestyle and international living, and who is looking to build a positive, trusting and long-term relationship with both the child and her parents.
