- unlimited/temporary The Faculty of Education is one of the largest faculties at Bielefeld University; its profile and structure are largely shaped by the interplay between subject-specific disciplines and educational science. Approximately 5,500 students are enrolled in the faculty’s various degree programs. Approximately 200 staff members (including 21 professors) are engaged in research, teaching, and administration. This makes the faculty one of the largest faculties of educational sciences in Germany. It is home to twelve research groups and a total of six academic institutions that are actively involved in international networks.
Your Tasks
- teaching responsibilities (65 % during the tenure-track phase, 80 % thereafter)
Teaching in the Bachelor’s and Master’s degree programs in Educational Science with a specialization in Social Work, focusing on the topics of sexuality, power, and violence as they relate to the fields of child and youth welfare (e. g., youth work, etc.), totaling 16 LVS (12 LVS during the tenure-track phase), including the associated coursework and examinations, as well as the supervision of theses
- teaching-related responsibilities (15 % during the tenure-track phase, 5 % thereafter)
Concept development, coordination, and implementation of projects in the area of sexuality, power, and violence (such as continuing education programs and the development of innovative teaching concepts)
- research duties (10 %)
Independent research and conceptual development within the described field of activity
- other duties (5 %)
Participation in academic self-governance and faculty committee work, as well as in all other areas of activity within the department
This position is conducive to academic development, and opportunities for academic (further) qualification will be provide.
This position is also open to researchers in the early postdoctoral phase (first through fourth year after earning a Ph.D.). Applications from such candidates are expressly encouraged.
During the tenure-track phase, the following evaluation criteria must be met:
- ability to teach independently
- acquisition and demonstration of the skills required for the independent development of concepts and projects within the specialist area of social work, child and youth welfare Your Profile We expect
- a completed scientific university degree in educational science or a closely related field with a specialization in social work
- a completed doctoral degree in educational science (with a grade of at least “very good”) focusing on power, body, or gender theory
- teaching experience relevant to the aforementioned responsibilities and didactic skills
- in-depth knowledge of discourses on sexuality, power, and violence in the field of social work
- experience in developing teaching concepts
- research experience and areas of interest in the fields of social work
- academic publications
- personal practical teaching experience in at least one area of child and youth welfare (preferably youth work)
- strong communication skills
- strong presentation and facilitation skills
Preferred experience and skills
- networking within the field in both academia and practice

- unlimited/temporary (2 years) (§ 2 (1) sentence 2 of the WissZeitVG; in accordance with the provisions of the WissZeitVG and the Agreement on Satisfactory Conditions of Employment, the length of contract may differ in individual cases)
