Digital The Role
The Technical Lead, Core Applications will join the Engineering and Architecture team at an exciting point in Sonnedix’s technology journey. You will provide technical leadership for the core internal applications that are transforming how the business manages its assets, projects, contracts, development pipeline, trading and PPA settlement. SAi One is Sonnedix’s single system of record for asset, project, contract and pipeline data across all Sonnedix countries, supporting asset management, development and construction delivery. SAi Markets supports the company’s trading and PPA settlement activities. Together, these platforms are replacing a fragmented mix of spreadsheets, trackers and country-specific tools, creating a more consistent, connected and scalable technology foundation for the business. You will play a key role in shaping the technical direction of these platforms, ensuring they are secure, scalable, resilient and capable of supporting Sonnedix as it continues to grow.
You will take technical ownership of a significant part of the application estate, typically one of the core applications or a major shared component. This is a hands-on leadership role where you will have real influence over how the platforms are built, evolved and operated. You will define and drive the technical roadmap, make architecture and technology decisions, and work closely with engineers to deliver new features, improvements and fixes. You will set high standards across architecture, automation, testing, monitoring and operational support, while identifying technical risks and opportunities to improve performance, maintainability and resilience. As more of the business moves onto these platforms, your remit and influence will grow with it.
A key focus will be developing sustainable internal capability and creating an engineering environment where teams can move quickly without compromising the reliability of business-critical systems. You will work collaboratively with Engineering, Asset Management, Development, Construction, Finance and Trading teams, translating complex business needs into practical, robust technical solutions. You will also play an important role in mentoring engineers, sharing knowledge and helping shape engineering standards across the wider application estate.
Desirable skills:
- A degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related field, or equivalent professional experience
- Experience providing technical leadership for complex, business-critical platforms or software solutions.
- Experience designing secure, scalable cloud-based solutions and modern software architectures.
- Strong understanding of CI/CD, Infrastructure as Code, automated testing and observability.
- Experience designing APIs, complex data flows and integrations across enterprise environments.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with both technical and non-technical colleagues and connect business needs with practical technology solutions.
- Experience in the energy sector, or with asset management, trading or PPA settlement platforms, would be beneficial, but is not essential.
