We are looking for an Interim Director of Analytics to join our CTO group and to provide immediate leadership stability, drive an at-risk transformation involving AI-assisted analytics tooling and governed workflow automation, and set a durable operating model ahead of a permanent leadership handover. This is a full functional leadership assignment, not a coordination-only role: the interim director carries temporary accountability for analytics priorities, people leadership, stakeholder outcomes, and operating performance across the client's core business domains.
Requirements:
- Substantial senior leadership experience as a Director of Analytics, Head of Analytics, or equivalent, with accountability for multiple analytics teams, team leads, business outcomes, and operational performance.
- Demonstrated ability to take over a function or at-risk portfolio, establish credibility quickly, stabilize delivery, define a realistic target state, and translate it into a short dated plan with clear owners and measurable outcomes.
- Strong portfolio and business-partnership experience across Product, Sales, Marketing, Finance, Data Engineering, and senior leadership, including the ability to make and communicate difficult prioritization and capacity trade-offs.
- Proven people leadership across countries or time zones, with credibility in hiring, onboarding, coaching, performance management, succession, organizational design, reorganizations, and difficult people decisions.
- Ability to establish a durable analytics operating model: clear decision rights, empowered team leads, consistent intake and prioritization, quality standards, stakeholder routines, and outcome-based performance management
- Experience steering AI-enabled analytics transformation using benchmarks, quality gates, adoption and value metrics, stakeholder validation, governed self-service, and controlled rollout to business users.
- Sound judgment in balancing innovation with operational continuity, analytical integrity, spend, security, privacy, scope, and production quality, with enough technical depth to challenge weak assumptions and expose hidden risk.
- Executive-level communication and influence, including concise performance reporting, decision framing, conflict resolution, vendor management, and the ability to work effectively as an external leader within delegated authority.
- Advanced English skills.
- Opportunity to travel within Europe or globally once per month.
Responsibilities:
- Rapidly assess the function's current state and establish a clear interim mandate, target state, and 30/60/90-day plan covering operational continuity, critical risks, transformation priorities, decision dates, accountable owners, and measurable outcomes
- Own the analytics strategy and portfolio for the interim period, align work to the highest-value business priorities, and make explicit choices about what to accelerate, defer, stop, or resource differently
- Clarify decision rights, responsibilities, and interfaces among domain analysts, team leads, internal platform and engineering partners, and business stakeholders so the function can operate with pace
- Lead team leads and analysts through clear objectives, outcome-based accountability, regular coaching, and consistent performance expectations, in partnership with internal People leadership on sensitive decisions
- Own capacity and workforce priorities for the interim period, including coverage, hiring and onboarding needs, critical skill gaps, and the allocation of scarce capacity between business-as-usual support and transformation work
- Own the integrated AI-native transformation roadmap from current-state diagnosis through rollout readiness, benchmark cycles, governed adoption, stabilization, and handover
- Set and enforce quality gates for AI-enabled analytics, including benchmark performance, stakeholder validation, adoption measures, and clear thresholds for moving from experimentation into normal operations
- Represent Data Analytics with senior business and technology stakeholders; establish transparent intake, prioritization, service expectations, and decision forums
- Maintain one executive view of function health covering outcomes, delivery, analytical quality, people and capacity, adoption, risks, dependencies, and decisions, escalating with concrete path-to-green options
- Resolve cross-functional dependencies and conflicts across Analytics, Product, Sales, Marketing, Finance, and Data Engineering, and document a structured handover plan for permanent leadership.
