The Assessment Team Leader role:

We're looking for an ambitious, motivated, and customer-focused individual to join our team as an Assessment Team Leader.

This exciting opportunity is perfect for someone who can support the delivery of the council’s Homeseeker Lettings Policy and effective management of the Housing Register through the line management supervision for a team of Assessment Officers.

Within this role you will support the development and delivery of a range of policies, procedures, partnerships, and high-quality customer focussed services aimed at managing the needs and expectations of applicants, identifying and minimising risk and ensuring good quality housing advice.

Key duties and responsibilities of our Assessment Team Leader:

  • Ensure a consistent, high-quality service is delivered by the Assessment Team by planning and aligning resource to meet the demands of the service. This includes annual leave, sickness, training, and agile working arrangements.
  • Adopt a proactive approach to developing your team by adopting a coaching style to identify and address area of weakness and / or under performance.
  • Manage the health and safety of staff under your direct supervision, or the wider team in the absence of the Lettings Manager, i.e., completing risk assessments, developing, and ensuring staff follow safe systems of work etc.
  • Responsibility for the accurate and timely advertising, shortlisting, and offering of vacancies on the Homeseeker Choice Based Lettings (CBL) system, including those vacancies sent for nomination by partner RSLs.
  • Responsibility for ensuring allocations balance the needs and safety of individual applicants with the wider community.
  • Ensure excellent customer service and clear communication with applicants in a range of formats to manage expectation and offer high quality housing advice.

What we’re looking for in our Assessment Team Leader:

  • Level 5 qualification in a relevant subject or extensive and relevant experience.
  • Record of achieving a range of performance targets, including the ability to analyse quantitative and qualitative data to understand performance trends.
  • Experience of performance monitoring and improvement in a supervisory capacity.
  • Extensive knowledge of partnership working practices and principles, alongside experience of working in a multiagency setting.
  • Experience of supervising and motivating others with a positive attitude, ensuring your own and your team’s continued development of service area knowledge, ability, and best practice.
  • Experience of developing others by adopting a coaching approach.
