Mobile Staffing Specialist Coordinator
(based in Amsterdam)
As Mobile Staffing Coordinator, you will lead the team responsible for ensuring the timely and continuous staffing of MSF OCA's international positions in humanitarian projects worldwide. You will play a key role in matching operational needs with available talents, ensuring that critical positions are filled and that staffing plans support both current operations and future demands.
Working closely with Operations, HR colleagues, and international stakeholders across the MSF movement, you will drive workforce planning, strengthen staffing processes, and provide strategic guidance on international mobile staff. As the department is undergoing significant changes, you will help navigate transformation while maintaining high-quality day-to-day service and support.
Main responsibilities
- Lead, coach, and develop a team of Mobile Staffing Specialists, fostering a collaborative, engaged, and inclusive working environment.
- Ensure the timely and effective staffing of internationally mobile staff positions across MSF OCA operations.
- Provide strategic oversight of staffing needs, workforce planning, and forecasting to support operational objectives.
- Monitor staffing demand and supply, identify gaps, and drive actions to address current and future needs.
- Collaborate closely with Operations, recruitment teams, career managers, and HR colleagues to ensure effective staffing solutions.
- Strengthen and improve staffing policies, procedures, tools, and ways of working in line with organizational priorities and best practices.
- Promote effective planning processes and support stakeholders in understanding and anticipating staffing needs.
- Build strong relationships with key stakeholders across MSF to facilitate collaboration and alignment.
- Provide expert advice on international staffing matters and contribute to decision-making processes.
- Lead and support the implementation of changes and improvements within the department and across staffing processes.
- Analyze complex staffing situations and develop creative, practical solutions for exceptional operational needs.
- Monitor team performance, track key indicators, and provide reporting and insights to support decision-making.
- Contribute to the development and delivery of annual plans, priorities, and budgets.
Candidate profile
- Minimum 5 years of operational and strategic experience related to staffing within MSF.
- At least 2 years of experience in a coordination role at headquarters level.
- Mandatory experience working both in MSF field missions and at headquarters.
- Strong understanding of field operations and the realities of humanitarian contexts.
- Solid knowledge of IMS staffing processes and workforce planning.
- Proven experience managing and developing teams, with strong people management skills.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a complex and changing environment.
- Strong stakeholder management, influencing, and relationship-building skills.
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to balance strategic priorities and operational delivery.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a pragmatic and solution-oriented mindset.
- Ability to navigate change, manage competing priorities, and make decisions in complex situations.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
- Full professional proficiency in English. Fluency in French is a plus.
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in a relevant field.
We offer
- A Dutch employment contract for the duration of 12 months, subject to renewal with satisfactory performance. This is a structural position with a start date as soon as possible.
- A gross monthly salary with a range between 4,875€ and 6,711€ gross per month. Your exact salary will depend on your relevant work experience, based on a full-time appointment.
