Do you want to contribute to top quality medical research?
The department of clinical science and education, Södersjukhuset (KI SÖS), is characterized by medical research that is closely integrated with clinical practice. Our location at one of Stockholm's major emergency hospitals provides excellent opportunities to investigate clinically relevant research questions through collaboration between researchers and healthcare professionals. The department is now looking for a statistician to join Gianluigi Savarese’s research group.
Here, you will have the opportunity to work in an interdisciplinary academic environment, develop your expertise, and contribute to research that has the potential to improve healthcare.
Your mission
As a statistician, you will be part of the heart failure and arrhythmia research group. The group focuses on heart failure, arrhythmias, and related cardiovascular diseases. We use large clinical registries, linked national health data registries, electronic health records, and clinical trials to study patient outcomes, treatment effectiveness, the implementation of evidence-based care, and the epidemiology of these diseases.
Working closely with clinical researchers, doctoral students, and international collaborators, you will contribute to the entire research process, from study design to scientific publication.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Develop study designs and statistical analysis plans in collaboration with the research group.
- Apply for access to data from quality registries and administrative registers.
- Process, manage, and validate large datasets, including data from the Swedish heart failure registry (RiksSvikt/SwedeHF) linked to other national registers.
- Independently conduct statistical analyses, including survival analysis, longitudinal modelling, competing risk analysis, propensity score methods, methods for handling missing data, machine learning and AI, as well as target trial emulation using the clone-censor-weight approach.
- Contribute to scientific manuscripts and research grant applications.
- Provide statistical guidance and support to doctoral students and other researchers, and ensure well-documented and reproducible analytical workflows.
- Serve as the point of contact between the research group and KI's IT department to coordinate the management and resolution of IT-related issues concerning research servers, virtual machines, and associated IT infrastructure.
- Participate in all activities of the research group.
Additional responsibilities may be assigned depending on the development of the research group and your expertise.### Your profile
We are looking for a candidate with a master's degree in statistics, biostatistics, epidemiology, or a related quantitative field. You have extensive and documented experience in applying for access to data from quality registries and administrative registers, as well as in extracting, managing, and analyzing large registry-based datasets and data from electronic health records. Your expertise includes pharmacoepidemiology, studies of treatment effectiveness and safety, survival analysis, longitudinal analyses, and the application of machine learning and artificial intelligence. A good understanding of the Swedish healthcare system is required to ensure the correct interpretation of extracted data. Furthermore, you have good proficiency in both R and Stata.
As a person, you are structured and detail-oriented, with the ability to work independently. You enjoy sharing your expertise and are able to provide guidance and support to doctoral students and other researchers in a clear and pedagogical manner. You have strong collaboration skills, are flexible, and are able to adapt to varying needs and priorities within a large international research group.### What do we offer?
