WHAT CHALLENGE WILL YOU BE TAKING ON?
As a Ground Operations Engineer, you will join the team responsible for a mission-critical infrastructure supporting Galileo, contributing to the continuous operation of one of the world’s most advanced satellite navigation ground segments.
Your work will have a direct impact on the performance and evolution of the Galileo constellation, taking part in both routine operations and highly critical phases such as the launch and early orbit phase of new satellites (LEOP - Launch and Early Orbit Phase).
The position is based in Germany, and you will work regularly with the GCC-I control centre in Italy, including periodic travel. You will be part of a dynamic, international environment within a project that connects infrastructure across different countries and supports services used by millions of people worldwide.
Your main responsibilities will be:
- Prepare and validate operational procedures and system configurations to ensure readiness for mission execution.
- Operate ground control systems during satellite operations, including critical phases such as LEOP.
- Participate in the planning and coordination of operational schedules, activities and operations.
- Support the deployment, integration and testing of new software releases and hardware updates.
- Contribute to the development of training materials and knowledge sharing within the team.
- Participate in the continuous improvement of operational processes and automation initiatives.
- Collaborate with international teams involved in the operation and evolution of the Galileo ground segment.
WHAT DO WE NEED IN OUR TEAM?
For this position, we are looking for professionals with solid experience or knowledge in space systems operations and the ability to work effectively in highly available and mission-critical technical environments.
The main requirements for the position are:
- Solid experience or knowledge in satellite ground segment operations, including system configuration, monitoring and troubleshooting.
- Knowledge of GNSS systems or similar space-based infrastructure.
- Experience working in Linux environments.
- Ability to learn independently and adapt to new systems and evolving technical challenges.
- Excellent command of English, both for technical communication and for preparing and reviewing documentation.
- Academic background in aerospace engineering, telecommunications, computer science or another related technical discipline.
- Availability for periodic travel to Italy to collaborate with the GCC-I control centre.
- A security clearance will be required for this position.
