Software Engineer, Charging Analytics
Tesla · Amsterdam-Zuidoost, Netherlands
You apply on the site where the job is posted. I never handle applications.
What to Expect Tesla operates a rapidly expanding global network of over 80,000 Superchargers. Historically built to serve passenger vehicles, the network is now expanding to serve Semi and Robotaxi as well, each of which comes with distinct planning requirements. The Charging Analytics team makes sure this growth happens deliberately, putting the right-sized sites in the right locations at the right time. We are looking for a software engineer to help build and maintain the internal tools, dashboards, and data pipelines that this work depends on. This is a product role as much as an engineering one. You will work in a small team to decide what’s worth building, ship solutions fast, and improve based on actual usage and feedback. You will partner directly with project developers, deployment and construction managers, regional managers, operations teams, and central leadership, turning ambiguous asks into things people actually use. We are open to a wide range of experience levels. A formal Computer Science education is not a prerequisite. We are optimizing for capability, ownership, and judgment over tenure and credentials, and we value the ability to learn quickly, including building fluently with AI-assisted tools, as highly as an established technical CV.
What You'll Do* Own internal data products end to end, from problem discovery and scoping through build, launch, adoption, and iteration
- Design, build, and maintain the internal web applications, dashboards, and lightweight tools that give business teams faster and more flexible access to the data they need
- Build and maintain the data pipelines and warehouse models that power charging analytics and network planning, writing and optimizing SQL against large-scale datasets
- Set priorities and make scope tradeoffs independently, balancing competing stakeholder requests against effort and impact
- Partner directly with non-technical stakeholders, from field deployment teams to senior business leaders, to translate ambiguous requests into defined and working products
- Serve as a technical point of contact for internal partner teams and third-party vendors on data access, product support, and shared integrations
What You'll Bring* Degree in a quantitative, technical, or analytical field, or equivalent practical experience. A formal Computer Science background is welcome but not required
- Demonstrated ownership of a product, tool, or project end to end, from problem definition through launch and iteration, with minimal direction. Evidence of this matters more to us than years of experience
- A track record of picking up unfamiliar technical skills quickly and independently, genuine curiosity about the business problem, and the persistence to chase down an answer when the data or the requirements are unclear
- Strong programming fundamentals and working proficiency in Python
- Comfort writing SQL and working with large datasets; advanced SQL and data modeling experience preferred
- Exposure to building web-based applications or internal tools, and to data pipelines and workflow orchestration; familiarity with React, TypeScript, REST APIs, or Airflow preferred
- Practical experience building with AI-assisted development tools, with sound judgment on where they add value and where they do not
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, particularly with non-technical stakeholders and senior business leaders, and a track record of driving tangible impact cross-functionally without formal authority
