Infrastructure Architect – Cyber Recovery | EU Data Centre Strategy | Banking & Financial Services
Lead the architecture of a new EU Cyber Recovery Data Centre for a major international banking environment. You’ll shape the concept design, translate business needs into technical requirements and help define the organisation’s future data centre and cyber-recovery strategy. This is a high-impact 6-month project with a strong view to extension, working closely with Architecture, Engineering, Security, Risk and IT Leadership teams.
About the role
As Infrastructure Architect, you’ll join the Global IT Resilience & Recovery function within the Platform Grid, supporting IT continuity, disaster recovery and backup & restore capabilities across APAC, EMEA, US and LATAM.
Your immediate focus will be the initiation phase of a new EU 3rd Data Centre / Cyber Recovery Data Centre project. You’ll turn business requirements into a high-level technical concept and help establish the architectural direction for a resilient, secure and scalable recovery environment.
Key outcomes include:
- Define the High-Level Concept Design for the Cyber Recovery Data Centre.
- Translate business needs into a comprehensive functional and non-functional requirements matrix.
- Contribute to the business case, feasibility assessments and site surveys.
- Support the evolution of the Enterprise Cyber Recovery Strategy.
- Work closely with Enterprise Architecture, Platform & Product Engineering, Information Security, Risk and IT Management.
The role is based in Amsterdam, with a minimum of 3 days per week onsite. Travel and occasional work outside standard business hours may be required.
About you
You’re an experienced Infrastructure Architect who can operate comfortably between business strategy, enterprise architecture and deep technical infrastructure.
- 7-10+ years in technical/infrastructure architecture, ideally delivering large-scale enterprise IT solutions.
- Strong experience within banking or regulated financial services environments.
- Proven expertise designing data centre, hybrid recovery and resilience environments, including backup, storage, replication and failover.
- Deep understanding of cyber resilience, immutable backup, cyber recovery vaults, air-gapped environments, ransomware recovery and clean-room recovery.
- Experience with data centre transformation, construction or major infrastructure programmes.
- Good understanding of DORA, NIS2, NIST, ISO 27001, ISO 22301 and ISO 22237.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a relevant field.
Desirable certifications: TOGAF, AWS/Azure Architect, VMware VCP-VCF, CCIE, CISSP, with CDCDP highly desirable.
Why this role?
- Architect a new EU Cyber Recovery Data Centre from the ground up.
- Work at enterprise scale across multiple global regions.
- Influence data centre and cyber-recovery strategy, not just implementation.
- Collaborate directly with senior Architecture, Security, Risk and IT stakeholders.
- 6-month project assignment with a strong view to extend for another 6+ months.
- Amsterdam-based with 3 days onsite per week.
