Quality Assurance Category Specialist
DO IT Organic · Barneveld, Netherlands
You apply on the site where the job is posted. I never handle applications.
You notice risks before they become problems. As a Quality Assurance Category Specialist, you will be responsible for quality, food safety and organic integrity within your product categories. You'll enjoy a high level of autonomy, assessing suppliers, products and quality-related matters while playing a key role in the continuous improvement of our international supply chain.
What will you be doing?
At DO IT Organic, we work with hundreds of organic products and suppliers from all over the world. This requires robust quality assurance, sound risk assessment and people who are confident taking responsibility.
Within your product categories, you'll work at the intersection of suppliers, product specifications, analytical data, legislation and quality-related challenges. This makes the role varied, intellectually stimulating and highly influential in safeguarding the quality of our products and supply chain.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Assessing and approving suppliers, products, specifications and supplier documentation.
- Reviewing analysis results and determining whether products comply with legislation, customer requirements and quality standards.
- Investigating, following up and documenting complaints, non-conformities and quality incidents.
- When following up complaints you will conduct root cause analyses and monitor corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
- Acting as a trusted advisor to Category Managers and colleagues on complex quality-related matters.
- Preparing, conducting and following up on supplier audits.
- Translating developments in legislation and regulations into practical improvements across the organisation.
- Contributing to projects, risk assessments and improvements within the quality management system.
You will join a team of four QA Category Specialists (including this vacancy). During your first few months, you'll become familiar with our products, suppliers and processes. Before long, you'll be independently reviewing analyses, handling complaints and assessing supplier and product information.
As your knowledge of your product categories grows, you'll gain increasing ownership of suppliers, products and quality-related matters, becoming a valued subject matter expert for colleagues and Category Managers. You'll also have the opportunity to conduct supplier audits and contribute to the ongoing improvement of our international supply chain.
Practical information:
- 32 to 40 hours per week.
- Flexible start time between 7:30 am and 9:00 am.
- Willingness to travel internationally on occasion for supplier visits and audits.
What will you bring?
- Experience in Quality Assurance, Food Safety, or a similar quality-focused role within the food industry.
- The ability to independently assess analyses, specifications and quality-related matters.
- A strong analytical mindset, attention to detail and confidence in making decisions based on facts and risk assessments.
- The ability to communicate effectively with suppliers, colleagues and other stakeholders.
- A good command of English, both written and spoken.
- Experience with supplier audits, HACCP, BRC or SKAL would be an added benefit.
