Tesla is on a mission to accelerate the world’s transition to sustainable energy—and Gigafactory Berlin is at the forefront of that journey. We are seeking a high-performing (Senior) Logistics Operations Engineer to drive operational excellence across Powertrain and Vehicle production systems, delivering the most reliable, stable, and efficient shopfloor execution in the world’s most innovative E-Powertrain and E-Vehicle manufacturing environment.
In this role, you will operate at the intersection of manufacturing execution, logistics, and engineering—managing daily short-cycle operations, leading structured problem-solving systems, and enabling continuous improvement through data-driven performance control. You will contribute directly to output stability, eliminating flow disruptions, and driving cross-functional alignment with production, maintenance, quality, and supply chain.
From hourly output protection to long-term system optimization, your responsibilities will span execution design, escalation management, RCA/PDCA frameworks, KPI tracking, and lean governance—all as part of the machine that builds the machine. This is a high-impact, hands-on role for someone who thrives in fast-paced environments, takes ownership, and is passionate about building resilient, high-performance systems that scale.
What You'll Do* Manage and execute short-cycle daily shopfloor operations to ensure flow reliability, output stability, and zero downtime.
- Integrate structured escalation systems and execute operational controls with tiered response and cross-functional alignment.
- Lead implementation and ownership of shopfloor execution systems structured around KPIs, output metrics, and system visibility.
- Ensure structured collaboration with Logistics, Production, Maintenance, Engineering, and Data teams as part of a cohesive execution model.
- Establish and apply structured problem-solving systems (RCA, PDCA, SPM) embedded into the daily shopfloor execution.
- Mentor and train operations staff in lean execution routines, continuous improvement tools, and role accountability.
- Diagnose and eliminate operational bottlenecks, process deviations, and disruptions through system-level countermeasures.
- Lead continuous improvement projects to optimize logistics execution and eliminate inefficiencies.
- Drive full visibility, containment, and protection of production output hour by hour through structured monitoring systems.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to define, implement, and track operational KPIs tied to logistics, quality, and financial metrics.
- Ensure operational compliance with EHS, ISO, EMAS, dangerous goods, hazmat, and local authority safety protocols.
- Operate based on embedded expectations and lean execution logic—avoiding reactive or improvised interventions.
- Contribute to the manufacturing execution system as a critical operator within “the machine that builds the machine.”
- Develop systems and methods to track and improve financially impactful KPIs such as MRB, chargebacks, and scrap.
- Execute Gemba walks, operational audits, and drive discipline across execution layers to reinforce structured shopfloor culture.
What You'll Bring* Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing, Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronics, Logistics, or a related technical field.
- Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or equivalent (required).
- Advanced certifications in Lean Manufacturing, Operations Management, or Supply Chain (preferred).
- Additional training in Problem Solving Methodologies (A3, 8D, 5Why, RCA) is an advantage.
- Project Management qualification is highly desirable.
Experience
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in a high-paced manufacturing environment (e.g., Intralogistics, Material Flow Engineering, Manufacturing, Production, or Supply Chain).
- Proven track record in executing structured shopfloor operations, leading problem-solving efforts, and working cross-functionally with operations, engineering, maintenance, and logistics.
- Experience in KPI implementation, structured escalation systems, and short-cycle operations execution is highly desirable.
Technical Skills
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel or other advanced spreadsheet tools (pivot tables, logic formulas, conditional formatting, etc.).
- Knowledge of Power BI, Tableau, or similar data visualization tools (desirable).
- Basic to intermediate knowledge of Python for data processing/automation (a plus).
- Understanding of MES, ERP systems, and factory execution tools.
- Proficiency with Lean tools (5S, Standard Work, Visual Management), PDCA, and Continuous Improvement practices.
Soft Skills
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong ownership mindset with the ability to execute autonomously and escalate structurally.
- Able to work under pressure in a fast-paced, complex production environment.
- Effective communicator and team player—able to coordinate with multidisciplinary teams on engineering and Management level.
- Proactive, structured, and detail-oriented.
Languages
- Professional working proficiency in English (required).
- Proficiency in other European languages (desirable).
- German language skills are a plus.
