IT Architect role at Sollers:
As an IT Architect at Sollers Consulting, you will be responsible for shaping the technical direction of projects and designing solutions that meet both business and technical requirements. You will work closely with customers, project teams, and Sollers experts to define architectures, make key technical decisions, and ensure successful delivery of complex IT solutions.
This role combines deep technical expertise with consulting skills – you will not only design architectures but also guide teams, challenge solutions, and support customers in making the right technology decisions.
About the role. You will:
- Design and evolve software architectures, including defining AS-IS and TO-BE solutions based on business requirements and technical constraints.
- Take ownership of project architecture, ensuring solutions are scalable, maintainable, secure, and aligned with customer goals.
- Create architectural documentation, diagrams, technical recommendations, and solution designs.
- Make architectural decisions and provide guidance to development teams throughout the project lifecycle.
- Contribute to sales activities by supporting discovery workshops, preparing technical proposals, and helping customers understand possible solutions.
- Define technical standards and best practices, ensuring they are understood and followed by project teams.
- Identify technical dependencies, risks, and potential improvements, and support teams in addressing them.
- Work closely with customer architects, Product Owners, Project Managers, and other stakeholders to align technology decisions with business needs.
- Support multiple development teams by providing architectural guidance and ensuring effective collaboration between teams.
- Participate in technical workshops, architecture discussions, and solution design sessions with customers.
- Lead estimation activities, from detailed technical estimations to high-level solutions and project effort estimations.
- Share knowledge and support the development of internal Sollers competencies through mentoring, coaching, and participation in Architecture Guild activities.
About the skills and tools. You will use:
Depending on the project, you will work with technologies and tools such as:
- Java / Gosu
- Guidewire platform (PolicyCenter, BillingCenter, ClaimCenter) – experience is a nice-to-have
- REST / SOAP APIs
- Microservices architecture
- Spring Framework
- JMS and integration technologies
- Git, Jenkins, CI/CD tools
- IntelliJ
- Oracle, MSSQL, H2 databases
- DevOps practices and modern software delivery approaches
About the requirements. You need:
- 7+ years of professional experience in IT, including significant experience in software development and architecture roles.
- Proven experience working as a Software Architect, IT Architect, Solution Architect, or Senior Designer with architectural responsibilities.
- Practical experience designing parts of AS-IS and TO-BE architectures and translating business requirements into technical solutions.
- Experience taking ownership of architecture at the project level and supporting teams in implementation.
- Strong understanding of:
- Software architecture principles
- Object-Oriented Programming and design patterns
- Clean Code and engineering best practices
- System integration patterns
- Scalability, performance, availability, and reliability aspects
- Experience making architectural decisions and presenting technical recommendations to stakeholders.
- Experience working with development teams and guiding engineers in solution design.
- Ability to understand business context and connect IT architecture with business strategy.
- Experience collaborating directly with customers or external stakeholders.
- Understanding of DevOps practices, including CI/CD, automation, and version control.
- Experience working in consulting or project-based environments.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
- Proficient in English (B2/C1 or higher).
About the wishes. Nice to haves:
- Experience with Guidewire solutions and insurance systems.
- Previous experience in the insurance or financial services domain.
- Experience designing enterprise-level solutions and system integrations.
- Experience working with customer architects and technical decision makers.
- Experience supporting sales processes, technical workshops, and solution proposals.
- Knowledge of cloud technologies and modern architecture approaches.
- Additional languages, such as French or German.
- Experience mentoring engineers and developing technical competencies.
- Willingness to travel occasionally.
