At Priogen we excel in energy trading. Over the years we have honed our craft by continuously improving and expanding our in-house forecasting methodologies. We identify profitable trading opportunities by leveraging our advanced weather capabilities, thorough analysis, creativity, and a strong business sense. Our primary activities are trading electricity and gas in short-term and medium-term markets. This means from month products to all the way to intraday quarterly products.
Currently there is a unique role open in the Intraday/Imbalance team. We are looking for a dedicated meteorologist that focuses on nowcasting, evaluating weather models, and trading in intraday and imbalance markets in Central Western Europe (CWE). Our goal is to improve our understanding and identifying of signals to exploit opportunities, and advance our coverage, enabling us to trade 24/7.
What will you do?
Your role has a diverse set of responsibilities; a large part is focused on nowcasting and trading. Another important part is providing meteorological insights for the short-term horizon and doing analysis to improve our strategies.
- Nowcasting and anticipating the wind and solar production for the next five hours for CWE based on data and meteorological views.
- Trading in the intraday and imbalance markets in CWE based on our meteorological and market views.
- Improving and expanding our nowcasting and meteorological tools to support our trading (both manual and algorithmic trading).
- Providing meteorological insights for the short-term period regarding the synoptic situation. This also includes evaluation of weather models.
- Doing analysis to improve our ability to assess the risks of different meteorological setups.
Who are you?
- You have a master's degree in Meteorology, Atmospheric Science, Oceanic Science, or a similar discipline in this field.
- You have 1-3 years of work experience in nowcasting weather variables.
- You like to understand and predict weather events.
- You are motivated to trade and contribute to our P&L.
- You have (trading) experience in the intraday market is a plus.

- You value details which are crucial in the imbalance market.
