You will support our “Perovskite Thin-Film Photovoltaics” team, which aims to improve the efficiency, stability, and scalability of perovskite solar cells—a key technology in the world of sustainable energy. We offer you the opportunity to contribute to innovative research. You’ll work with a diverse, international team dedicated to pushing the boundaries of photovoltaic research.

For our team “Perovskite Thin-Film Photovoltaics”, we are looking for a student assistant starting 01.10.2026, with the opportunity to write a master’s thesis, to perform the following tasks:

  • You will investigate the use of novel materials with a lower environmental footprint and analyze their effect on the efficiency and stability of perovskite thin-film solar cells.
  • You will prepare coating solutions, apply functional layers using methods such as spin coating or thermal evaporation, and thereby fabricate complete solar cells yourself.
  • You will characterize the solar cells using optoelectronic and optical methods, including current-voltage measurements and photoluminescence spectroscopy, and evaluate the resulting data using standard analysis tools (e.g., Origin or Python).
  • You will carefully document your experiments, interpret your measurement results in a clear and structured manner, and discuss them with the team.
  • In addition, you will support the organization of laboratory operations by contributing to clean and safe workstations as well as reliable experimental processes.

What you contribute

  • You are studying physics, chemistry, materials science, or a related field.
  • You have a strong interest in experimental laboratory work. Experience with basic optical or electrical characterization methods (e.g., IV, PL) is a plus.
  • You enjoy working in a team, but after appropriate training, you can also plan and carry out tasks independently.
  • You approach your tasks in a structured and conscientious manner.
  • You have a good command of English.
