Long Description
Forvia Interiors is looking for a Material Planner based in Santa Maria da Feira, Portugal.
The Central Material Planner / Traffic Scheduler is responsible for ensuring that plants receive the materials required to meet production schedules while optimizing inventory, transport flows and operational costs.
Key responsibilities
- Execute the daily procurement process for serial materials within the assigned portfolio.
- Build leveled procurement programs by part and supplier based on MRP, plant requirements and supplier capacity.
- Schedule material and component supply to meet production requirements and minimum safety stock levels.
- Monitor inventory against agreed targets and contribute to JNI reduction through improvements in MOQ, packaging, frequency and lead time.
- Synchronize and optimize supply and transport plans while controlling transportation costs.
- Define weekly and monthly transport plans with plants and identify truck utilization opportunities.
- Manage inbound and outbound flows, including road, sea and air transport, FTL, LTL and shared flows.
- Follow up Freight Orders and ensure adherence to loading and unloading windows.
- Anticipate supply or transport risks, raise alerts and coordinate corrective or backup solutions with plants, suppliers and carriers.
- Monitor supplier capacities with plants and Purchasing, identify deviations and propose alternatives.
- Coordinate supplier delivery allocations when capacity constraints occur.
- Support the resolution of supplier and carrier claims.
- Minimize obsolete stock and business liability in coordination with plant teams.
- Develop and implement standard material supply processes.
- Maintain strong relationships with plants, suppliers, carriers and internal stakeholders.
- Support the implementation of new tools, systems and processes.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of the transport organization.
Main performance indicators
- Supplier and carrier performance, including backlogs.
- Alert management, resolution effectiveness and time to solve.
- Transport cost effectiveness and truck filling rate.
- Inventory, cash and JNI reduction performance.
- Compliance with production schedules, SLAs and agreed operational costs.
Team management and communication
- Promote the Company’s Code of Conduct and act as a role model.
- Support the team and escalate issues when required.
- Cascade key information and provide regular reporting to management.
- Select, manage and develop direct reports.
- Define skills development and training plans with HR and Plant PC&L.
- Conduct annual performance assessments.
- Actively contribute to the Supply Chain network. Qualifications
The ideal candidate will have/be:
- Bachelor's degree in industrial, transport, or supply-chain management
- First experience in transport operations or material planning appreciated
- SAP knowledge and especially MM, PP and TM modules appreciated
- Multi-functional & Multi-cultural communication
- Minimum bi-lingual (English + one other language)
- Customer orientation / Team spirit / Resiliency / Autonomy / Openness to new ideas
- Ability to work under time pressure
