Introduction
Are you passionate about training future scientists and engineers in semicon? Do you enjoy working in a high-tech cleanroom environment and supporting students in their learning?
We are looking for a colleague to help operate a unique hands-on learning facility and contribute to educational activities that connect students with the rapidly evolving microelectronics industry.
Job Description
We are looking for a cleanroom teaching support scientist/engineer who is passionate about practical education and wants to contribute to expanding hands-on training activities within our cleanroom facilities. This position plays a key role in strengthening TU/e’s contribution to the Dutch Beethoven Plan, aimed at scaling up semiconductor talent to meet the growing demands of the high-tech industry.
In this role, you will be part of the Education and Student Affairs (ESA) team within the Department of Applied Physics and Science Education (APSE). The ESA APSE team provides educational support for all Bachelor’s and Master’s programs within the department. Your role will focus specifically on supporting education in Applied Physics, including the Bachelor’s program in Applied Physics, the Master’s program in Applied Physics, and the Master’s program in Science and Technology of Nuclear Fusion.
You will help create a safe, engaging, and challenging learning environment where students gain practical experience in micro/nanofabrication processes. You will be working closely with academic staff and technical teams to support educational activities at Bachelor and Master levels taking place in the NanoLab (https://www.tue.nl/en/research/research-groups/nanolabtue/nanolabtue) and Educational Cleanrooms.
A key part of the role involves managing the educational cleanroom facilities and supporting their daily operation. This facility is part of the Flux CBL Labs, a joint initiative of the Departments of Applied Physics and Science Education (APSE) and Electrical Engineering (EE), where students have access to advanced fabrication and characterization equipment.
You will work in close collaboration with the Program Director for Applied Physics education, the manager ESA APSE, teaching staff and the Flux CBL Labs Team, as well as the NanoLab team. As a member of the ESA APSE team, you will report to the Manager ESA APSE.
Your responsibilities
In this role, you will:

- Oversee the day-to-day operation of the facility.
- Maintain, troubleshoot, and coordinate maintenance of cleanroom equipment.
- Manage consumables and waste handling.
- Support the development and implementation of safety documentation, including risk assessments, work instructions, and emergency procedures.
- Schedule educational activities, student projects, and facility usage.
