The Process Improvement Engineer will be based in Madrid, European Headquarters, and will be part of the Competitive Edge Europe Department, directly reporting to the Competitive Edge Director.
The Process Improvement Engineer will accelerate the deployment of proven engineering and operational excellence initiatives across Nippon Sanso Europe. The role focuses on identifying successful projects implemented in ASUs, PAG plants, cylinder operations, filling stations, logistics, maintenance, energy efficiency, reliability, and production processes, and ensuring their effective replication across multiple sites and regions.
As part of the Competitive Edge team, this position will act as the bridge between European Value Stream Owners, Operations teams, Engineering, and regional leadership to maximize productivity improvements and deliver sustainable savings.
Key Responsibilities:
The key responsibilities of the role include:
Identify high-value engineering and operational initiatives suitable for replication across Europe.
Develop replication roadmaps for ASUs, PAG plants, production sites, logistics operations, and technical services.
Work directly with plant managers, operations teams, maintenance managers, and engineering departments to deploy proven solutions.
Support the implementation of:
Energy optimization projects
Reliability improvement initiatives
Predictive and preventive maintenance programs
Process optimization projects
Capacity and yield improvements
Asset performance enhancement initiatives
Technical cost reduction programs
Evaluate technical feasibility and scalability of projects before European deployment.
Standardize best practices, technical methodologies, and implementation approaches.
Track project execution, savings delivery, and operational performance.
Facilitate cross-regional knowledge transfer and technical workshops.
Support European Value Stream Owners in achieving the company's replication objectives.
Job requirements
Background:
Degree in Chemical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Process Engineering, or similar.
Aprox. 8 years of experience in industrial operations, engineering, continuous improvement, or plant management.
Experience leading engineering improvement projects with measurable savings.
Required Skills:

Strong analytical and data-driven mindset.
Ability to translate business needs into scalable digital solutions.
Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills.
Ability to work across multiple sites and cultures.
Preferred Skills:
Experience in industrial gases, chemicals, energy, or manufacturing sectors.
Lean Six Sigma certification.
Operational Excellence or TPM experience.
Experience working in multinational environments.
