Nothing much happens at SITA without the involvement of LEGAL. We are a key enablement function, ensuring SITA has the right to do business across the globe and helping get deals across the line. We support SITA and our colleagues to “Get to Yes” sustainably, ethically and legally SITA LAWYERS AS NAVIGATORS:* Navigating the complexity of rules & regulations and the turbulence of unwanted risks and liabilities

SITA LAWYERS AS DEAL DOERS AND RELATIONSHIP BUILDERS:* Getting our products to market across the world – global products, delivered everywhere
- Engaging with partners and customers on terms that are fair and reasonable
- Pulling together the work of many into contracts, documents and governance that tell the deal as it is: understandable, practical, useful and clear
A LEGAL COUNSEL AT SITA IS:* A fully autonomous lawyer in one or more domains (a domain being a BU, a Geography/Region, a specific area of Law or legal practice, providing support to other areas within the Legal team as needed)
- With other ad hoc responsibilities in SITA Legal outside of those domains
- Who has regular engagement with external parties (customers, suppliers, regulators, industry players) relative to the domains
- And is involved ad hoc in SITA projects where the primary value brought may not be only “legal” (bringing grounded business experience)
A LEGAL COUNSEL AT SITA THEREFORE HAS:* Solid experience in a domain and/or broad experience over more than one domain
- The ability to take an autonomous role in the domain
- Bring influence and not just legal expertise and authority
FOR THIS ROLE – LEGAL COUNSEL, AIRPORT BUSINESS UNIT, WHAT IS THE SCOPE AND RESPONSIBILITY?* A key member of the Airport Business Unit, Legal Department, reporting to the Head of Legal, Airports BU and Americas (Atlanta)
- Responsible for supporting all product and commercial activity in the Business Unit and related areas, focusing on supplier deals, and as needed, GEO-based customer deals. Provide advice and counsel to portfolio and product managers, engineering, sales, and related subject-matter expert areas, such as Finance, etc., such advice may include products liability issues, strategic partnerships, etc.
- Provide complex risk assessment analysis to internal stakeholders
- Plan, manage and address areas of legal risk and /or compliance on BU projects
- Support Purchasing group with supplier contracts and negotiations
- Maintain excellent inter-personnel communications and relationships
- Strong drafting with the ability to clearly communicate complex legal and factual matters
- Advising internal teams on SITA policies and procedures related to BU matters
- Provide cross-functional support to colleagues across SITA, as well as with management – clear, concise and empathetic communications skills in English (written and oral) are a must, as is the ability to guide and influence
- Bring a high degree of organization and the ability to report (verbally and in written and presentational material) with clarity on the work undertaken in the team

GIVEN THE RESPONSIBILITIES, YOU MUST HAVE:* A Degree in Law and be licensed in key region or country, such as Spain, the UK, the US, or Germany for example, with appropriate legal qualifications (registered or licensed attorney, solicitor, barrister, or equivalent) - licensure in other jurisdictions a plus;
- At least 7 years of post-qualification experience in a mix of private practice and industry, with a heavy focus on commercial negotiations, and demonstrated ability to advise in technology-driven business environments, particularly those involving digital platforms, travel tech, and related technology law considerations such as product design, engineering and applicable regulations
- High sense of ownership to complete work through conclusion, strong commercial acumen, the willingness to get into the detail while keeping a clear sense of direction and purpose and the ability to work with colleagues
- An Analytical Mind: Excellent analytical skill and a strong understanding of contracts and the ability to understand product and operations, and negotiate with internal and external stakeholders.
