We are currently seeking an experienced
Site Inspector (m/f/d) Offshore Steel Structures
Start date: As soon as possible | Duration: Expected until June 2029 | Location / Assignment location: Verdal, Norway**| Contract type:** Freelance / B2B
You will support a major offshore energy infrastructure project during the fabrication of large-scale offshore steel structures. The assignment is primarily based at the fabrication yard in Verdal, Norway, with physical presence on site required. The regular schedule is Monday to Friday, with half- or full-day assignments depending on project requirements. The scope may also include offshore activities during later project phases.

Responsibilities
As part of your role, you will be entrusted with the following responsibilities:
- Perform site inspections and supervise the fabrication of large offshore steel structures throughout the project
- Act as Second Party Inspector on behalf of the client and execute inspections in accordance with the applicable Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs)
- Attend required Witness and Hold Points and perform defined monitoring and review activities
- Inspect and monitor welding, structural assembly and coating activities
- Participate in installation, commissioning and functional testing activities, including mechanical systems such as gripper systems
- Review fabrication, quality and as-built documentation and ensure inspection readiness
- Identify and escalate technical deviations, quality issues and project risks to the responsible Technical Lead and Project Management
- Participate in coordination meetings, safety walks and relevant project interfaces
- Prepare and maintain inspection documentation, including inspection and anomaly reports, progress reports, punch lists and non-conformity reports
- Support final site reporting, HSE documentation and lessons learned
- Support compliance with applicable European and German technical requirements and standards Requirements

- Solid professional experience in steel construction, fabrication or inspection, ideally involving large welded offshore or heavy steel structures
- Strong practical knowledge of welding inspection, structural fabrication and quality control
- Familiarity with Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs), quality documentation and inspection reporting
- Knowledge of EN 1090 and relevant European fabrication and welding standards
- Experience with digital inspection or reporting systems; knowledge of Dalux is an advantage
- Good command of MS Office, particularly Word and Excel
- English language skills at minimum B2 level
- Norwegian language skills at minimum B2 level
- German or Spanish language skills are an advantage
- Valid driving licence
- Willingness to be based in Verdal, Norway, for the duration of the assignment
- Structured and independent working style combined with strong communication skills and a high level of quality and safety awareness
Certificates:
The following valid qualifications are mandatory:
- Welding Inspector / Welding Technician qualification, e.g. CSWIP 3.1 or higher
- VT Level 2 certification according to ISO 9712
- Coating Inspector certification – FROSIO Level II or NACE Level 2 or equivalent Benefits
