Key responsibilities
Are you a senior, hands-on technologist who takes end-to-end ownership and turns architecture into delivered outcomes?
We are looking for an experienced Solution Architect who will:
- Lead the technical modernization of the Name and Media Screening landscape, with clear ownership of execution and measurable delivery outcomes.
- Accelerate responsible AI adoption across the team and applications, focusing on practical use cases that meet security, risk, data, and compliance requirements.
- Define and deliver the cloud migration roadmap, including target architecture, migration sequencing, engineering guardrails, and operational readiness.
- Increase application resilience through scalable architecture, observability, capacity planning, disaster recovery, and the removal of systemic risks.
- Move applications and services to strategic platforms, work directly with engineers to remove delivery blockers, and safely decommission legacy technologies.
The team
You will work in a highly collaborative environment with colleagues from globally diverse backgrounds and skillsets coming together to solve challenging problems as a team. You’ll be based in Krakow, Poland, collaborating closely with the NMS Product Owner in Krakow and with the Name and Media Screening product, business and technology teams globally. The team is modernizing a business-critical application landscape by adopting cloud and AI capabilities, strengthening resilience, moving services to strategic platforms, and retiring legacy solutions. Our Agile Delivery Crew is part of GCORC’s (Group Compliance and Operational Risk Control) Detection Capability. The Crew’s mission is to design, develop, and integrate Anti-Money Laundering and Know Your Client solutions that protect UBS from financial crime risk.
Your skills and experience
Required expertise
- Proven experience as a hands-on technologist who owns architecture through implementation and production outcomes.
- Deep experience designing and delivering cloud migrations for complex, business-critical applications, including hybrid transition states.
- Strong knowledge of resilient distributed systems, including high availability, observability, performance, capacity, disaster recovery, and operational readiness.
- Ability to translate strategic-platform direction into executable migration plans, clear engineering decisions, and incremental delivery milestones.
- Strong delivery focus, with the ability to work directly with engineers, make pragmatic trade-offs, remove technical blockers, and communicate clearly in English.
- Practical experience applying AI to software engineering, operations, or business workflows within appropriate governance controls.
Desirable expertise
- Experience simplifying technology estates, reducing technical debt, and safely decommissioning legacy applications, infrastructure, and dependencies.
- Ability to lead through influence, set technical direction, challenge constructively, and raise engineering capability across distributed teams.
- Experience delivering technology change in a regulated, high-impact environment while maintaining quality, resilience, and sustainability.
- Experience with Microsoft Azure Cloud.
- You’re curious to explore how AI can improve how we build, deliver and optimize workflows. You do this with sound judgment - validating outputs and aligning with policies, risk standards and ethical use.
