Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Platform Architect to lead the technical architecture, evolution, and modernization of a large-scale, cloud-native content management and digital experience platform. The role will be responsible for defining the long-term architectural vision, ensuring scalability, security, performance, and maintainability across multiple services and applications. Working closely with Engineering Managers, Technical Leads, Product Managers, and delivery teams, the Platform Architect will provide technical leadership across the platform ecosystem, driving architectural decisions, establishing engineering standards, and ensuring alignment between business objectives and technology strategy. The ideal candidate will possess deep expertise in distributed systems, microservices architecture, cloud-native development, modern web platforms, and AWS technologies. The role requires a strong blend of strategic thinking, technical leadership, and hands-on architecture involvement.

Key Responsibilities

Define and own the overall platform architecture and technical roadmap.Design scalable, highly available, secure, and resilient cloud-native solutions.Establish architectural principles, standards, patterns, and best practices across engineering teams.Provide architectural guidance and governance for all platform services and applications.Lead solution design discussions and architectural reviews for major initiatives and strategic projects.Collaborate with Product Management and Engineering Leadership to translate business requirements into scalable technical solutions.Ensure consistency and interoperability across microservices, APIs, data models, and integration patterns.Drive modernization initiatives, technical debt reduction, and platform optimization efforts.Define API strategies, service contracts, event-driven architectures, and integration standards.Guide technical leads and engineering teams through complex architectural challenges.Review designs, proof-of-concepts, and implementation approaches to ensure alignment with architectural goals.Lead cloud architecture decisions across AWS services and cloud-native technologies.Define platform observability, performance monitoring, security, disaster recovery, and operational excellence strategies.Evaluate and introduce new technologies, frameworks, and architectural patterns where appropriate.Work closely with security teams to ensure compliance, application security, and secure-by-design principles.Support capacity planning, scalability analysis, and performance optimization initiatives.Mentor Technical Leads and Senior Engineers in architecture, design thinking, and engineering excellence.Contribute to critical technical implementations when necessary and provide hands-on leadership for complex initiatives.

Skill Requirements

10+ years of software engineering experience with at least 5+ years in an Architecture role.Extensive experience designing and delivering large-scale distributed systems and microservices-based platforms.Strong expertise in Java (11-21+) and modern backend development practices.Deep knowledge of Spring Boot, Spring Cloud, WebFlux, and reactive architectures.Strong understanding of RESTful APIs, HTTP protocols, API versioning, and integration patterns.Experience designing event-driven and asynchronous architectures.Extensive experience with AWS cloud services, including:

Strong knowledge of containerization and orchestration technologies including Docker and Kubernetes.Experience with search technologies such as OpenSearch or Elasticsearch.Strong understanding of relational and NoSQL database design.Experience with PostgreSQL, DynamoDB, data modelling, and optimization techniques.Experience establishing CI/CD practices using Jenkins, GitHub Actions, or similar technologies.Strong knowledge of security architecture, authentication, authorization, OAuth2, OpenID Connect, and IAM concepts.Proven experience driving architectural transformation and modernization initiatives.Strong understanding of software quality, maintainability, testing strategies, and engineering governance.Demonstrated ability to communicate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Experience with enterprise CMS and digital experience platforms.Knowledge of Next.js, React, and modern frontend architecture patterns.Experience with event streaming technologies such as Kafka.
