Responsibilities
Data Pipelines
Develop, maintain, and improve scalable data ingestion and processing pipelines
Code Development
Modify Lambda functions, SQL queries, and processing jobs to implement new features and external data ingestion
Data Modeling
Design scalable data models using Iceberg for silver and gold data layers
Query Optimization
Optimize SQL queries, Iceberg tables, and data processing workloads for performance and cost efficiency
Data Quality
Apply validation rules and build automated quality checks to ensure reliable and accurate datasets
Pipeline Reliability
Ensure data pipelines run successfully, handle external data reliably, and prevent major data quality issues
Documentation
Document data preparation processes, transformations, code, and key technical decisions clearly
Version Control
Maintain code and datasets in GitLab using meaningful commits, proper versioning, and established development practices
Requirements
Data Pipelines
Proven experience designing and building scalable, reliable, and maintainable data pipelines
Python Development
Strong Python-based data pipeline development skills with experience in TDD and AI-assisted coding practices
CI/CD & IaC
Familiarity with CI/CD, automated testing, and Infrastructure as Code practices
Data Modeling
Strong expertise in data modeling, schema design, analytical models, and scalable data structures
dbt
Experience with dbt Core or Cloud, including SQL transformations, modeling, testing, documentation, and dependencies
Orchestration & SQL
Experience with orchestration tools such as Airflow and strong SQL skills, including query optimization
Iceberg & Analytics
Knowledge of optimizing Iceberg tables, Athena queries, and Spark workloads for performance and cost efficiency
AWS Services
Hands-on experience with AWS services including Athena, Lambda, Aurora, EventBridge, Glue, and SageMaker
