Senior Cyber Security Strategic Lead | DevOps Security | No People Management, Full Strategic Ownership

A well-known bank is building a new Fastlane process for onboarding tools and applications, a direct response to the rise of AI-enabled cyber threats and a way to keep the business moving fast without cutting corners on security. They are looking for a Senior Cyber Security Strategic Lead to take that process from its first working version to a mature, bank-wide standard.

This is a rare combination: real strategic ownership and a seat at the table with senior leadership, but without the overhead of managing a team. You will operate as the right hand to the DevOps Security manager, shaping the multi-year vision, sparring on direction, and being the person the room turns to for the hard technical calls.

About the role

As Senior Cyber Security Strategic Lead, you sit at the intersection of governance, architecture and developer reality within a DevOps Security team that champions security by design, embedding security early in the development journey instead of bolting it on afterwards. You will lead the Fastlane governance workstream end to end and act as a strategic sounding board for the team’s direction and priorities.

• Lead and coordinate the existing Fastlane MVP, the process for onboarding a first subset of applications and tools, and steer it through daily governance and decision making.
• Mature the Fastlane process further: improve it, extend its scope to more applications, and lift it from a working MVP to an embedded, bank-wide standard.
• Define a 3-year DevOps Security vision and roadmap that ties directly into the wider security strategy and the priorities set by the security leadership.
• Act as strategic sparring partner to the manager, bringing quarterly insights and proposals that genuinely shape managerial decisions.
• Raise the level of technical discussion across the teams you work with, becoming a recognised senior technical authority on DevOps and application security.
• Own and prioritise the team backlog, connecting risk, architecture and developer behaviour into a single, coherent way of working.

Who are you?

• 10+ years of experience in cyber security, IT, risk management or banking.
• Deep understanding of DevOps Security, application security and platform security.
• A proven track record of building and communicating a long-term technical vision, not just executing one.
• Strong stakeholder management skills: you move comfortably in a complex stakeholder field and can influence without relying on formal authority.
• Professional proficiency in English.
