Our Global R&D team works on a diverse range of products and technology including intelligent camera systems, battery sipping security sensors, advanced access control solutions, bespoke user interface devices and the Verisure Central Unit which acts as the “brain” of the system enabling communications between all devices and the Verisure backend.
Verisure’s R&D department designs, develops, and builds the products that make up our market-leading alarm system. We have a talented team of hardware and software engineers working with the latest IoT technologies.
The CU Devices team is expanding in both responsibility and size and to secure continuous growth, we are looking for an experienced Hardware Engineer to strengthen the team.
This role will be a key contributor, developing our complex alarm systems for the secure and connected smart home, including development of new products or the evolution of existing ones. We are looking for a highly driven, talented, and experienced engineer with a broad and deep level of technical understanding of electronics technologies, you must also have good social skills and really like to work together with others solving issues and creating solutions.
About the role
- Gather, analyze, and break down hardware requirements.
- Design and documentation of the schematics
- Selection of electronics components to be used in new products.
- Maintenance, validation of second source alternatives, and management of BOMs.
- Support to manufacturing process and production testing, partner with EMS to facilitate creation, test, evaluation of factory test equipment, continuous improvement of factory line, and defect analysis.
- Testing, validation and debugging of prototypes and final designs.
- Work alongside SW engineers to help development and debugging.
- Collaborate with different functional groups internally (QA, Procurement, etc) and externally (Vendors, EMS).
- Monitor and prepare reports for all R&D activities associated with Hardware development.
- Select correct design concepts and fundamental technology used for new products or improvement for existing ones
- Facilitate “design for cost” and “design for manufacturability” reviews, often with a 3rd party independent company.
- Support the certification process.
Who are you
- Minimum of 6 years’ experience designing electronics: schematics and layout of PCBs.
- Experience in document requirements and specifications.
- Experience in multilayer and high-speed (e.g. DDR, USB, Ethernet, PCIe) designs.
- Experience in design with processors (MPUs) and/or fast microcontrollers (MCUs) and external memories.
- Experience with testing, validating and debugging prototypes.
- Experience with design for manufacturing/industrialization on mass volume production and testing tools
- Experience in full cycle product development (concept to adoption).
- Experience in certification processes, according to the relevant standards or regulations,
- Understanding of digital and radio communication systems.
- RF knowledge is a plus.
- Software development experience is a plus.
- Knowledge of automated testing frameworks is a plus.
- spoken languages: English - Professional, Spanish - Strongly recommended but not mandatory.
