Product Quality Owner
Zendr · Jönköping, Sweden
You apply off-site, with the employer or the job board. I never handle applications.
About the role
We're looking for a Product Quality Owner to take ownership of a question nobody at Zendr owns today: what we validate before we ship, in what order, and why. As we roll out the next generation of our B2B freight platform through late 2026 - shipping continuously behind feature flags - you'll build and defend the risk model of our product, decide where validation effort goes, and stand behind every release decision with real evidence rather than gut feel or a completed checklist.
This is a strategy and ownership role with hands-on validation at its core. It's deliberately not a test-execution role, a QA engineering role, or a team lead role - our development teams own automated unit and integration testing, written and maintained with modern AI tooling. Your time goes to the judgment work automation can't do: risk thinking, release readiness, and deep exploratory and regression testing of the flows that matter most.
You'll work closely with the Head of Product and the Head of Engineering in a fast-moving environment where pragmatism, collaboration and craft matter more than buzzwords. Your recommendation is what every release decision is based on, so this role comes with real mandate - and the accountability that goes with it. This is a role for someone who reasons analytically about risk and generates structure in ambiguity - not someone who waits to be told what to test.
Key responsibilities
- Own and maintain the product's risk model - what can break, what it costs the customer, and where validation effort should go
- Own release readiness: your recommendation is the basis for every release decision - you define what "ready" means per release and back each ship-or-hold call with documented evidence
- Drive bug refinement on a regular cadence and keep the backlog honest and prioritised against real customer and business impact
- Inventory, risk-triage and validate features shipped behind feature flags before they roll out to customer segments
- Run exploratory testing of new functionality and regression on critical flows - carrier integrations, rates, labels and the messy real-world edge cases of a logistics product
- Drive the regression automation you need through the development teams rather than building it all yourself
- Bring risk thinking into product discovery, acceptance criteria and definition of done, before development starts
About you
You came up through testing and have since moved well beyond manual test execution into analytical, risk-based quality work, with genuine product sense. You reason about risk, impact and probability, and you can justify what deserves testing effort and what doesn't. You're comfortable owning decisions, setting your own testing agenda, and turning ambiguity into structure. You communicate clearly - making risk tangible for both technical and non-technical people - and you build trust across product and engineering as a force multiplier, never a bottleneck.
We're looking for someone who has:
- A relevant degree - at least 3 years of higher education
- 5+ years in QA or testing, with a clear move beyond manual test execution into analytical, risk-based quality work
- Strong analytical ability - you reason about risk, impact and probability and can defend what to test and what to skip
- A track record of owning quality or release decisions, not just working through test cases
- The ability to generate structure in ambiguity and set a testing agenda without being told what to test
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to align both technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Hands-on experience with exploratory and regression testing of complex, integration-heavy products
- Fluency with AI tooling as a working instrument for test generation, maintenance and analysis
- Fluent English, both spoken and written (Swedish is a plus, but not a requirement)
High value if you also bring:
- Experience with B2B SaaS in logistics or another operationally complex, integration-heavy industry
- Familiarity with feature-flag / dark-launch release models
- Experience with API testing tools such as Postman and reading system integrations
