Purpose of the job
The preparation, assembly, welding, and finishing of complex welded fabrications, with responsibility for the product quality amongst other things by carrying out measurements.

Supply Chain
Our worldwide Supply Chain organisation is responsible for all the production and assembly activities within Marel, and for the strategic and operational purchasing as well. We have manufacturing and production centres throughout the entire world, which support the different industry centres within Marel with the production, acquisition, assembly, and testing of machines and spare parts. This support is provided during product development, the production of new machines, and to solve service-related issues.
The Welder is responsible for the correct completion of complex welded fabrications. If problems arise concerning capacity and supply lead times, then the incidents are escalated to the Manager Production. Technical problems are escalated to the Manufacturing Engineer Regular.
Tasks and responsibilities

Organisational tasks

Participation in work consultation meetings;

Coordination of the work activities within the autonomous teams based on the daily start meetings ( Dagstart );

Monitoring compliance with supply lead times and standard times;

Application of the prescribed measurement methods, work instructions, and measuring tools;

Carrying out the quality control, making sure the process control satisfies the set requirements, and checking one's own work;

Carrying out the first-line maintenance of welding equipment and tools;

Taking care of the internal transport for production (forklift truck, crane gantry);

Removal and collection of parts;

Supervising employees and trainees.

Operational tasks - Welding
-
Checking the parts for presence, dimensions, and quality;

Setting up and calibrating welding equipment in accordance with the drawings, the applicable quality standards, and the health, safety, and environmental regulations, so that the work can be carried out in accordance with the company procedures;

Selecting, processing, and welding of small or single unit production series or semifinished products, mainly from stainless steel parts, in accordance with the designated welding techniques, and taking into account the required productivity levels and the set quality standards;

Correcting identified defects and modifying the process description where necessary;

Finishing products in accordance with the set norms.

Continuous Improvement

Advising the Manufacturing Engineer during the evaluation and assessment of the manufacturability and reproducibility of products in different phases;

Discussing the approach to the work and giving feedback about operational difficulties to the Manager Production and/or Manufacturing Engineer.
Job requirements
- A qualification at intermediate vocational level 3 (MBO 3) in a subject related to bench machining, sheet metalworking or welding;
- Welding at TIG and MIG level 3;
- Experience with work preparation and the finishing of products;
- Experience of welding for the food processing industry;
- Operational knowledge of the relevant software;
- Knowledge of various measurement instruments;
- Ability to read technical drawings;
- A Contractor’s Safety Checklist diploma (VCA diploma) and a forklift truck certificate.
