At the Leibniz Institute of Atmospheric Physics (IAP), a full-time position in the Department

“Radar Remote Sensing” is available as

Postdoctoral Scientist**, Mesoscale plasma and neutral processes (f/m/d)**

The position is initially offered for two years with a start date as soon as possible. The salary

is according to class EG 13 TV-L. The fixed-term contract is based on § 2 WissZeitVG.

Your Tasks:

• Develop new processing algorithms to analyze mesoscale E-region irregularities from

the large dataset of measurements from global SIMONe systems.

• Investigate the connection between mesoscale E-region irregularities and the

dynamics of the mesosphere and lower thermosphere (MLT).

• Explore the spatial and temporal correlations of MLT winds and E-region irregularities

at mesoscales.

• Research and link the causal interactions between magnetosphere processes and

the MLT and E region.

• Present and publish your research in scientific meetings and journals, respectively.

Your Qualifications / Experience:

• A PhD degree (or equivalent) in physics, engineering, or a related field.

• A strong interest in atmospheric dynamics, ionospheric instabilities, radar techniques,

and data processing.

• Proficiency in scientific programming and data visualization.

• Solid communication skills and an ability to work independently and responsibly.

• Proficiency in English for collaboration and documentation.

• Publications in peer reviewed journals
