The Department of Computer and Systems Sciences. With over 200 employees and 4,500 students, the Department of Computer and Systems Sciences (DSV) is a strong and dynamic research and educational environment. The discipline of computer and systems sciences bridges the gap between technology and the humanities, social sciences and behavioral sciences, with great relevance to our lives today and in the future. Our research addresses how new information and communication technology should be designed to benefit individuals, organisations and society as a whole.
DSV offers a stimulating research community in an international environment. Many of our projects are interdisciplinary, and our researchers frequently collaborate with colleagues at other universities, in industry, and within the public sector. Our research is conducted within nine subject areas: AI and Data Science, Business Process Management and Enterprise Modeling, Cybersecurity, Digital Games and Simulation, Digital Transformation and Governance, Human–Computer Interaction, Language Technology, Risk and Decision Analysis, and Technology-Enhanced Learning.

Project description
The postdoctoral position is situated in Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), with a focus on adaptive immersive technologies for participatory activities in urban heritage. The successful candidate will work with Associate Senior Lecturer Luis Quintero, in collaboration with Professor Henricus Verhagen and Professor Uno Fors at Stockholm University.
The project centers on how we might design adaptive immersive experiences in XR (augmented, virtual, and mixed reality) for cultural heritage and evaluate the potential of contextual data to enhance access, interpretation, and engagement of shared experiences. In particular, the research will aim to investigate how urban heritage can move from static reconstruction towards shared personalized activities that support collective meaning-making. The research activities will be situated within the technical and scientific aspects of games design and HCI. Including the development of prototypes that integrate multimodal data collection from movement and interaction streams, algorithmic development for real-time group-aware adaptation, and mixed-methods evaluation of the adaptive games and immersive experiences.
Main responsibilities
We are looking for a postdoctoral fellow with a technical background in areas such as games design, immersive technologies, and/or computer vision. Preferably with experience in the design of interactive prototypes involving immersive technologies, interactive media, and/or games; along with competence in conducting empirical research on topics related to technology for cultural heritage, architecture, or related areas.
The research will be interdisciplinary in nature and it will draw upon links between games design, data science, and relevant social sciences. The main responsibilities of the postdoctoral fellow will include technical development, empirical and design work related to digitalization of cultural heritage, and study of shared interactions in immersive media.
This project is situated in a multidisciplinary research group with extensive international collaborations. The postdoctoral fellow is expected to present their work in international venues and journals, and to collaborate with colleagues at Stockholm University and other institutions in the Stockholm region.
