At Catawiki, every day brings the extraordinary! Whether it's Daniel Ricciardo's Formula 1 Car, a Woolly Mammoth's Skeleton, Lady Gaga's Jumpsuit or Usain Bolt's running shoe, we encounter exceptional objects every day.
We're a one-of-a-kind marketplace for buying and selling special objects. Each week, more than 100,000 unique items are auctioned, all carefully curated by our passionate in-house experts.
Having sold over 25 million unique objects, our mission is to become the world's most popular destination for special objects. As a growing, diverse and sustainable scale-up, we proudly live by three core values. If these values resonate with you, we'd love to explore how you can join us.
- Taking ownership and driving impact
- Being open to change and feedback
- Being passionate about our mission and our customers.
Your Mission
Join Catawiki as a UX Designer shaping the experience of buying and selling special objects, from discovery through to the experience after a sale. This role is not tied to a single product vertical: its scope can sit within Demand (buyer-side features), Supply (seller-side features) or Fulfilment (post-sale experiences, including payments, shipping and customer service).
You'll bring a connected view of the marketplace to your product area, understanding how buyer, seller and post-sale experiences influence one another. You'll identify where people need support and where design can make the greatest difference, balancing customer needs, business goals and technical constraints. You'll lead through your work and influence, rather than people management.
What You'll Do
- Lead design for parts of the seller and expert experience, from research and early concepts through prototyping, delivery and learning after launch.
- Use customer research, behavioural data and business insight to frame problems, identify needs and prioritise design opportunities.
- Turn complex problems into clear journeys, interaction and interface designs, prototypes and service flows. Test ideas with customers and colleagues, and use what you learn to improve them.
- Partner with Product Managers, Engineers, Data Scientists, UX Writers, supply stakeholders and other designers to shape and deliver solutions.
- Balance user empathy with business goals and technical constraints, connecting your design decisions to measurable customer and commercial impact.
- Contribute to design systems and shared patterns that create coherent experiences across Catawiki.
- Use Figma and practical AI-assisted workflows to explore ideas and build prototypes, applying judgment to the outputs.
- Communicate your thinking clearly, tell the story behind your decisions and iterate in response to feedback.
- Navigate ambiguity and competing priorities, getting up to speed quickly with the aim of contributing productively within your first month.
What You'll Bring
- 5+ years of experience owning UX or product design work end to end, with a portfolio showing how you approached complex problems, the decisions you made and the outcomes you contributed to.
- Strong interaction design, prototyping and visual communication skills, with an understanding of how to use and improve design systems and shared patterns.
- Experience conducting or contributing to customer research and translating research, data and direct feedback into design decisions.
- Strong Figma skills and practical experience using AI for design ideation or prototyping, alongside a willingness to keep experimenting.
- Clear, structured communication in English and the ability to explain your approach to design and non-design partners.
- Structured problem solving, independent decision-making and systems thinking: understanding how decisions within one product area affect connected journeys and the wider marketplace.
- The ability to manage stakeholders, collaborate across disciplines and influence decisions without formal authority.
- Adaptability and openness to feedback as priorities, processes and design tools evolve.
Helpful experience
- Working in a smaller product company, e-commerce platform or marketplace.
- Designing seller journeys or working on marketplace experiences.
- Delivering in less structured environments with several competing priorities.
How We Work
- Across disciplines: You'll work closely with Product Managers, Engineers, Data Scientists, UX Writers, supply stakeholders and other designers, bringing customer needs, business goals and technical constraints into shared decisions.
- From evidence to iteration: Customer research, behavioural data and direct feedback help shape the work. You'll explore and test ideas, iterate with customers and colleagues, and keep learning after launch.
- With ownership and openness: You'll own design decisions, explain your rationale and bring feedback into the process. Clear communication and influence matter more than formal authority.
- With shared patterns and practical tools: We use Figma, design systems and shared patterns to build coherent experiences. AI-assisted workflows and rapid prototyping help us explore ideas and test assumptions, with design judgment guiding how we use the results.
