SBMC is an innovative startup that supports companies in accelerating and commercializing breakthroughs in regenerative medicine and biomaterials. Regenerative medicine focuses on developing advanced therapies that repair, replace, or restore damaged cells, tissues, and organ functions, often supported by smart materials that stimulate the body’s natural healing processes.
SBMC operates two state-of-the-art facilities in Eindhoven: a development facility and a pilot production facility. In our development facility, we support companies in the R&D phase by performing contract research projects and offering shared laboratory access.
This facility includes two specialized laboratories, a biological ML-II laboratory dedicated to investigating cell–biomaterial interactions and a biomaterials laboratory focused on material fabrication and advanced characterization techniques. Our pilot production facility includes four GMP-C cleanrooms, enabling clients to scale up efficiently from laboratory experiments to pilot-scale production.
Tasks
As a senior lab technician, you will be primarily responsible for the hands-on execution of standardized and validated test methods within an industrial and regulated environment, while contributing to the development and optimization of these methods.
In this role, you will independently perform experiments using mammalian cell culture, cell-based assays, immunostaining, histology, and microscopy. You will also play an active role in the development, optimization, and validation of laboratory methods within a quality-regulated environment.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working at the interface of research, development, and quality, and who wants to remain actively involved in both hands-on experiments and technical method development. It is specifically intended for professionals with prior industry laboratory experience who are familiar with working under regulated conditions and quality requirements.
Requirements
Bachelor's degree (HBO level) in Regenerative Medicine, Life Sciences, Biotechnology, Biomedical Sciences, or a related discipline.
3-5 years of relevant laboratory experience within an industrial setting.
Proven hands-on experience with cell culture and a broad range of cell biology techniques.
Experience with cell-biomaterial studies and material characterization techniques is a big plus.
Experience working in a quality-regulated environment (e.g. ISO 13485 and/or GLP) is highly desirable.
Excellent communication skills in English, both written and spoken.
Benefits
Varied role: A versatile laboratory role combining R&D, hands-on experimentation, and quality-focused test method development.
Significant impact: Direct involvement in cutting-edge regenerative medicine and biomaterials projects.
Dynamic culture: Opportunity to learn, grow, and contribute to innovative solutions in a fast-growing, dynamic startup environment.
Flexibel Work Options: Choose between 32-40 hours.
