Job Overview
The Technical Specialist I supports certification and verification programs by performing assigned technical and audit-related activities under established standards and procedures. This role conducts field and desk assessments, reviews documentation, and contributes to the development and maintenance of program materials. The Technical Specialist I builds foundational technical expertise, supports continuous improvement initiatives, and may assist with research, training, and outreach activities as part of professional development.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Auditing
- Conduct onsite and desk audits in accordance with assigned standards and verification requirements.
- Perform required data checks, inventory reviews, and data management system evaluations.
- Support the development of risk assessments and verification plans.
- Complete assigned audit activities within agreed timelines and documentation standards.
- Assist in preparing clear and accurate audit reports with appropriate supervision.
- Communicate audit findings internally and externally in a professional manner.
Quality and Program Development
- Deliver verification services in accordance with corporate quality systems and program requirements.
- Perform technical review of audit reports and/or audit process.
- Maintain accurate competency and training records.
- Participate in internal and external accreditation activities as assigned.
- Stay current on applicable standards and program updates.
- Support continuous improvement efforts through feedback and process adherence.
Client Management
- Communicate professionally with clients to obtain necessary data and documentation.
- Support client onboarding and audit preparation activities.
- Ensure responsiveness and high levels of customer service.
- Escalate complex issues to senior team members as appropriate.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in (field) and/or related discipline or
- Master's Degree or higher in a related field
- Must be able to speak in English, Italian and/or French is highly desired
- 3+ years of related equivalent work experience
- Demonstrates strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to convey technical or procedural information clearly
- Organizes and executes assigned program tasks accurately and on time with attention to detail
- Applies established procedures, standards, and quality requirements to daily work
- Works independently on defined assignments while seeking guidance as needed
- Collaborates effectively with cross-functional teams, auditors, and internal stakeholders
- Maintains accurate data, records, and documentation in program systems
- Learns and applies program standards, workflows, and systems efficiently
- Adapts to changing priorities in a fast-paced, customer-oriented environment
- Proficient with Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
