Are you trained in Epidemiology at MSc or PhD level and passionate about high-quality academic education and innovative learning design? We are seeking a colleague who will contribute to the continued development and innovation of epidemiology education within Wageningen University & Research. Are you are new Lecturer in Nutritional Epidemiology?

In this position, you will support the design, integration, and modernization of epidemiology courses, and make the curriculum of epidemiology future proof. Working closely with course coordinators, teachers, tutors, and instructional designers, you will help ensure that our teaching materials, learning activities, and assessments are scientifically rigorous, educationally effective, and adapted to the evolving needs of both on-campus and online students.

Your role

As Lecturer Nutritional Epidemiology, you will contribute to the continuous improvement of epidemiology education by:

• supporting the alignment and optimization of epidemiology course content across the curriculum to strengthen the learning trajectory for online and on-campus students;
• collaborating with academic staff and instructional designers to create effective and engaging digital learning environments;
• contributing to the development of future-proof teaching and assessment materials that are robust in the era of Generative AI;
• reviewing, updating, and optimizing (digital) educational resources, including a large collection of knowledge clips and other multimedia learning materials;
• exploring opportunities for open education and wider reuse of educational resources;
• providing support with course coordination and educational administration to ensure smooth implementation of curriculum innovations.

Your team

The position is embedded within the Chair Group of Global Nutrition and closely connected to the Chair Group of Nutrition and Disease within the Cluster Human Nutrition and Health. You will become part of the Epidemiology teaching team, a collaborative group of approximately 15 academic staff members, including professors, associate professors, assistant professors, senior lecturers, and postdoctoral researchers, who jointly contribute to epidemiology education across programmes and chair groups.

Your qualities

We are looking for a candidate who:

• holds an MSc degree in Epidemiology or a closely related field;
• has a strong understanding of epidemiological concepts, methods and experience conducting epidemiological research (e.g. a MSc thesis, or peer-reviewed publication);
• has an interest in higher education and educational innovation; prior experience with teaching or educational support (Brightspace, digital examination, online education, or instructional design) is an advantage;
• has excellent organizational skills and is able to manage multiple projects simultaneously;
• can work independently while effectively collaborating with academic staff and educational support teams;
• in our international working environment there is an increasing amount of communication in English. For this position it is about language level C1.

As a person, are enthusiastic about translating epidemiological knowledge into engaging learning experiences. You enjoy improving educational content, working with academic colleagues, and contributing to innovative teaching approaches that prepare students for the rapidly evolving field of epidemiology.

In addition to these first-rate employee benefits, you will of course receive a good salary. Depending on your experience, we offer a gross salary of between €3.706,-. and €5.760,-. for a full-time working week of 38 hours, in accordance with the Collective Labour Agreements for Dutch Universities (CAO-NU) (scale 10). We offer you a contract for a maximum of 30 hours a week (0,8 FTE). Additionally, a contract for 0,6 FTE can be discussed. We initially offer a one-year contract, with the possibility of renewal subject to satisfactory performance for the duration of the program. The program lasts for 3 years.
