Result of Service Enhanced communication, visibility and public outreach of the Human Trafficking and Migrant Smuggling Section (HTMSS) through the timely development, management and dissemination of high-quality communication products, including website content, social media posts, newsletters, web stories, analytics reports and the 2026 Annual Report. These outputs will contribute to effectively communicating the Section’s work, achievements and impact to relevant stakeholders and the wider public, in line with UN standards and communication requirements. Work Location Home-based Expected duration 02.11.2026 - 30.05.2027 Duties and Responsibilities United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) is devoted to ensuring States have the tools, expertise and commitment to effectively prevent and respond to trafficking in persons and smuggling of migrants. The UNODC Human Trafficking and Migrant Smuggling Section, aims to address these crimes. The Section is the main vehicle for the substantive servicing of UN bodies and organs, various UN and other international processes as well as the delivery of technical cooperation to partner countries. Trafficking and smuggling are high on the agendas of governments and donors worldwide. These crimes are major topics of interest within the UN family, as well as media outlets and the general public. UNODC has longstanding experience in advocacy work towards promoting anti-human trafficking and migrant smuggling initiatives. In recent years, it has carried out several awareness-raising campaigns. The Section aims to become the world's leading voice and source of information on these crimes, and this requires communication products. The purpose of the assignment is to support the Section with the creation and development of communication and visibility products to promote its work and impact. Qualifications/special skills High school diploma or equivalent is required. A minimum of one year of professional experience in communications, journalism, graphic design, web design, or other related area is required Good communication skills including the ability to write clearly and concisely in English are required; Experience managing and updating websites, drafting editorial content; experience working on human trafficking, migrant smuggling or organized crime is desirable Experience within the UN system or similar international organisations is also desirable. Languages English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For this position, fluency in oral and written English and French is required. Knowledge of another United Nations official language is an advantage. Additional Information Not available.
