Internship Role: Climate Risk & Resilience
Location: Leiden and Remote

Duration: 3 months
Reports to: Business Owner – Climate Change
Role Overview
We are seeking a proactive intern to support the identification, assessment, and management of climate-related risks across our operations and supply chain. This role will contribute to our long-term resilience strategy, helping the company align with frameworks such as the Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosures (TCFD) and prepare for future climate scenarios.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in conducting climate risk assessments, including physical risks (e.g., flooding, heatwaves) and transition risks (e.g., regulatory changes, carbon pricing).
- Support scenario analysis using climate models and socio-economic pathways (e.g., IPCC SSPs, RCPs).
- Help map vulnerabilities across assets, operations, and supply chains
- Contribute to the development of resilience strategies, including adaptation measures and business continuity planning.
- Collaborate with internal teams (e.g., operations, finance, procurement) to gather data and align risk mitigation efforts.
- Providing a view as to the physical and transition risks, their identification and severity/likelihood assessment
- Prepare visualizations, dashboards, and reports for internal and external stakeholders.
Qualifications
- Currently pursuing a degree in Environmental Science, Climate Policy, Sustainability, Risk Management, or related field.
- Familiarity with climate risk frameworks (e.g., TCFD, IPCC), climate modeling, and ESG reporting.
- Strong analytical and research skills; experience with GIS or climate data tools is a plus.
- Effective communication and collaboration skills.
- Interest in climate adaptation, resilience planning, and corporate sustainability.
