Description
Team Overview: Within one of these Business Units, Alternative Heat deliver turnkey plantroom packages at scale, directly to hyperscale developers throughout Europe, under long-term framework agreements. This Business Unit is scaling at pace, and we have secured a 5-year framework agreement to design, manufacture and deliver volume based, turnkey plantroom modules (mechanical, electrical and BMS) to projects throughout Europe, with demand set to increase annually.
Role Overview: The Mechanical & Electrical Chargehand will support the Site Supervisors and Project Team in the delivery, installation, inspection, and commissioning of modular plantrooms and associated services. The role is hands-on, requiring a strong mechanical and electrical trade background, with responsibility for coordinating site activities, monitoring quality standards, and ensuring work is completed safely and in line with project requirements.
This position is ideally suited to an experienced fitter, electrician, or multi-skilled tradesperson looking to develop their leadership capabilities and progress into a future Supervisor role.

What You'll be Doing
Responsible for supporting Mechanical and Electrical Site Supervisors with the planning, coordination, and delivery of modular plantroom installations and reconnection activities. Act as a key point of contact for site operatives and subcontractors, monitoring daily works to ensure they are completed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with approved drawings, specifications, programmes, and quality standards. Provide oversight of mechanical and electrical installations including pipework, pumps, HVAC equipment, cable containment, LV power, controls, BMS, field wiring, and instrumentation. Carry out routine quality inspections, snagging, and verification of installations, while supporting ITPs, SAT documentation, handover records, and O&M manuals. Promote HSEQ compliance by monitoring safe working practices, housekeeping, permits, and risk assessments, and promptly escalating safety, quality, and technical issues. Provide regular progress updates, assist with short-term planning and reporting, and maintain effective communication with supervisors, subcontractors, clients, and project stakeholders to support successful project delivery.### About Alternative Heat
