Gas turbine Heat Transfer Engineer – Secondary Air System and whole engine model
Siemens Energy · Läen, Sweden
Apply directly with the employer or job board. Applications are never handled here.
A Snapshot of Your Day
Join us in shaping the future of gas turbine technology. In this role, you will combine fluid mechanics, heat transfer and engineering judgement to develop secondary air systems and whole-engine models that improve performance, reliability and sustainability. You will work in a supportive international team where collaboration, curiosity and different perspectives are valued.
Your days will be varied: you may analyse a design, improve an in-house calculation tool, discuss test results with colleagues or support a technical investigation. You do not need to know every aspect of the role from day one. We will support your development through knowledge sharing, collaboration and opportunities to deepen your expertise.
How You’ll Make an Impact
- Design and analyze secondary air systems and whole-engine models using in-house and established engineering tools.
- Contribute to the development of new and existing gas turbine products, methods and calculation tools.
- Collaborate across disciplines and locations to create robust, efficient and cost-effective solutions.
- Plan and evaluate gas turbine and laboratory tests, turning results into practical engineering improvements.
- Support technical investigations and help identify root causes and effective solutions.
- Share knowledge, contribute ideas and help strengthen the team’s collective expertise.
- Provide technical support to colleagues in manufacturing, purchasing, sales and service.
What You Bring
We are looking for someone who enjoys solving technical problems with others and is motivated to keep learning. You may be a strong match if you bring:
- A master’s degree in mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, engineering physics, or a related field is required. Doctoral studies are welcome but not required.
- A foundation in fluid mechanics and heat transfer, gained through studies, research or professional experience.
- An analytical and structured approach to problem-solving.
- Using and developing in-house tools complemented by CFD tools.
- The ability to communicate and collaborate in English in an international environment.
Experience with gas turbines, secondary air systems, whole-engine models or test evaluation is an advantage, but it is not essential. If the role interests you and your experience does not match every point, we still encourage you to apply. Your transferable skills, perspective and motivation may be exactly what our team needs.
About the Team
You will join an experienced, international team in Finspång and India working with aerodynamics and secondary air systems. We support one another, share knowledge and welcome questions and new ideas. We believe that different experiences and perspectives lead to better engineering decisions, stronger collaboration and more innovative solutions.
We are committed to an inclusive working environment where everyone has an equal opportunity to contribute, develop and succeed. We value sustainable ways of working, open communication and flexibility where the role allows. We especially welcome applications from people who are currently underrepresented in engineering and technology.
Our Gas Services division offers Low-emission power generation through service and decarbonization. Zero or low emission power generation and all gas turbines under one roof, steam turbines and generators. Decarbonization opportunities through service offerings, modernization, and digitalization of the fleet.
We can offer you employment benefits such as: reduction of working hours, advance vacation, health care allowance and an eventual possibility to a flexible working place.
