Head of Tech - Finance & Contracts

Albert Heijn is looking for a strategic and inspiring Head of Tech to lead the Finance & Contracts domain within our Retail Business Platform. In this high-impact leadership role, you will drive technology, data, and innovation across a critical business area, while building strong teams and delivering secure, modern, and value-driven solutions.

As our new Head of Tech (Director level), you are responsible for overseeing the Finance & Contracts domain within the Retail Business Platform. You lead IT and data service delivery, driving innovation, modernization and improvement while ensuring efficient service execution. Working closely with both internal and external experts, you ensure high quality output and maximum value within your domain. Additionally, you will lead teams and support their professional growth. You are an inspiring leader, guiding your domain with technical expertise and aligning business and technology goals. You collaborate with stakeholders to develop new services, optimize existing processes, and ensure strategic alignment.

Service Delivery

• Responsible for IT/data service delivery in your domain.
• Collaborate with stakeholders within Albert Heijn, Etos, Gall&Gall and Ahold Delhaize Europe to develop and modernize new and improved IT solutions.
• Ensure the realization of value in alignment with the platform vision.
• Own the budget for your domain, balancing cost-efficiency with the investment needed to deliver value.
• Ensure security and IT compliance requirements are met across your domain.

Leadership & Team Development

• Lead internal and external experts and teams to deliver maximum value, managing both Engineering Managers and Engineers.
• Foster a positive, inclusive work environment and support the growth of team members.
• Guide your teams through the transition to DevAI.
• Act as a technical sparring partner for staff engineers in your domain.

Strategy and Innovation

• Optimize business processes through technology and data driven solutions.
• Formulate policy and strategy to optimize the use of technology and data.
• Serve as a trusted advisor to senior management and contribute to annual planning.
• Prioritize projects and collaborate with other Heads of Tech to achieve strategic goals.

Supplier Management & Governance

• Ensure supplier performance and take necessary action when needed.
• Work with suppliers to establish and monitor technical performance metrics. Your new team and office.

• A competitive annual gross base salary up to € 130.000 (incl holiday pay) plus a bonus on top of your salary;

The recipe for maximum impact

• A relevant Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in information technology or similar
• A minimum of 8 years of experience in a similar role.
• Expertise in modern IT architectures, Agile methodologies, CI/CD, and other relevant standards. Our tech stack: Kotlin, React, Kubernetes, Databricks, etc.
• Experience with Finance Tech and SAP integrations is a plus.
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written. Fluent in English; Dutch (C1+) is preferred but not required.
• Experience with budgeting and finops.
• Strong leadership and stakeholder management abilities.
• A strong conceptual thinker, adept at strategizing on an organizational level.
• A decisive leader, unafraid to make bold moves when necessary.
• A master of balancing practical thinking with strategic execution.
