Pinecone Group is a European venture platform combining a venture-platform , a forthcoming venture fund and corporate innovation across Sweden, Norway and the United Kingdom. We identify, validate and build technology companies together with exceptional entrepreneurs, with the ambition of creating investment-ready ventures that can be spun out within approximately 12 months.

At the core of our platform is Pinecone OS, our proprietary operating system that standardizes how we source opportunities, validate ideas, build companies and compound knowledge across the organization.

We are now looking for an AI Tech Lead who will make artificial intelligence one of Pinecone's greatest competitive advantages. You will design and build the AI-powered systems, tools, and workflows that enable a small team to identify, validate, build and launch companies with exceptional speed and quality.

Beyond building Pinecone's internal AI capabilities, you will serve as the technical lead for our newest venture companies during their earliest stages, ensuring a smooth transition to future CTOs while acting as the primary technical advisor to Pinecone's leadership team.

Responsibilities

Build Pinecone OS

You will own the technical development of Pinecone OS, the shared operating platform that powers our entire venture creation model.

Your responsibilities include:

• Transforming our venture creation process, from opportunity screening and validation sprints to scorecards and investment decisions, into software used across the organization.
• Building AI-powered workflows for founder sourcing, customer discovery, market validation and investment analysis.
• Instrumenting every critical process so that speed, quality, conversion rates, costs and decision-making are measured rather than estimated.
• Establishing documentation standards that stand up to institutional investor due diligence.
• Standardizing workflows across Sweden, Norway and the UK so knowledge compounds instead of remaining siloed.

Multiply the Organization with AI

AI should become embedded in every part of how Pinecone operates.

You will:

• Design and build agentic AI systems that create real operational leverage.
• Develop evaluation frameworks and feedback loops that continuously improve AI quality.
• Determine where AI should operate autonomously and where human judgment creates greater value.
• Build internal AI tools used across the organization.
• Personally leverage cutting-edge AI technologies to accelerate strategic and operational execution.
• Manage AI agents with the same discipline as leading high-performing engineering teams, through clear objectives, quality standards and continuous iteration.
• Stay ahead of the rapidly evolving AI landscape and make thoughtful build versus buy decisions.

Build the Next Generation of Venture Companies

As AI Tech Lead, you will play a critical role in building Pinecone's portfolio companies from day one.

You will:

• Prototype new products within days to validate demand with real customers.
• Rapidly identify and kill ideas that lack sufficient commercial potential.
• Serve as Tech Lead for new ventures during months 0-6, leading development through the first production release.
• Build systems that are robust enough for an incoming founding CTO while remaining pragmatic enough to maximize execution speed.
• Support ventures throughout months 6-12 to ensure a successful transition to their permanent engineering teams.

Qualifications

• Experience with modern cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure) for deploying and scaling AI applications.
• Proficiency in programming languages commonly used in AI development, such as Python or TypeScript.
• Stockholm, Sweden (20 km range) or nearby areas.

We believe you have:

• Significant experience as a Senior Tech Lead, Staff Engineer, Engineering Manager or CTO.
• A proven track record of building and deploying production-grade AI systems.
• Hands-on experience with agentic AI systems, RAG, context engineering, memory architectures, tool integration and evaluation frameworks.
• Demonstrated experience taking products from an empty repository to paying customers.
• Strong technical judgment on where AI creates value and where conventional software is the better solution.
• The ability to make strategic build-versus-buy decisions in a technology landscape that evolves every month.

Nice to Have

Experience with:

• Building internal platforms that measurably improve organizational productivity.
• Optimizing AI pipelines across quality, latency and cost.
• Venture studios, startups, consulting firms or environments where multiple products are built in parallel.
• Security architecture, data governance and AI infrastructure at scale.
