Your mission
The successful candidate will join our research program in population pharmacogenetics and precision medicine, focusing on genetic diversity in African populations and its impact on drug response. The project aims to identify and functionally characterize pharmacogenetic variants relevant to drug efficacy, pharmacokinetics and adverse drug reactions using large-scale genomic and pharmacogenomic datasets. The work will combine population and computational genetics—including genotype–phenotype analyses, pharmacogene haplotype characterization, rare and structural variant analysis, and computational prediction of variant function—with integration of functional and clinical data. Selected variants will be prioritized for experimental validation using cellular and molecular approaches. The candidate will work with a high degree of independence while contributing to multidisciplinary and international collaborations
Your profile
To be eligible for employment as a postdoctor, a PhD or a foreign degree deemed to be equivalent to a Swedish PhD is required. This eligibility requirement must be fulfilled at the latest at the time of the employment decision. Completion of your doctoral degree within the last three years is considered an advantage. If there are special reasons, your degree may have been completed earlier.
The successful candidate should have:
- A PhD in pharmacogenetics/pharmacogenomics, human genetics, molecular medicine, bioinformatics, pharmacology or a closely related discipline.
- Documented experience in pharmacogenetic or human genetic research, preferably involving African populations or other genetically diverse and underrepresented populations.
- Experience with analysis and interpretation of next-generation sequencing data, including targeted sequencing, whole-exome and/or whole-genome sequencing.
- Strong competence in computational genetic analyses, including variant annotation and prioritization, genotype–phenotype association analyses and population-genetic approaches.
- Experience with pharmacogene-specific analyses, including interpretation of genetic variation in drug-metabolizing enzymes, transporters and/or drug targets.
- Familiarity with the analysis and interpretation of rare variants, haplotypes and structural or splice-altering variants is considered an advantage.
- Experience with computational approaches for predicting the functional consequences of genetic variants is considered an advantage.
- Good programming and data-analysis skills, preferably using R, Python and/or other relevant bioinformatics tools.
- The candidate should be able to work independently while also contributing effectively to multidisciplinary and international collaborations
