As a Technical Writer in the Design and Engineering team, you contribute to the development and delivery of innovative self-service products used by passengers at airports around the world. You work on real-world engineering challenges, creating clear technical documentation and training materials across multiple phases of the product lifecycle.
Reporting to a Senior Product Manager, you work within the Passengers at Airports division, collaborating closely with engineering, product, manufacturing, service, and regulatory teams to help deliver high-quality, reliable, safe, and maintainable products to the global aviation industry.
What you do
Work closely with mechanical, electrical, regulatory, manufacturing, product, service, and support teams to translate complex engineering information into practical documentation and training content. Validate procedures directly on prototypes and production-representative units to ensure instructions are accurate, safe, and usable in real-world environments.* Develop and maintain clear technical documentation, including installation guides, maintenance manuals, technical specifications, service bulletins, FAQs, and knowledge-based content.
- Create practical procedures for installation, troubleshooting, component replacement, upgrades, repairs, and product retrofits.
- Produce supporting visual and training content, such as technical diagrams, illustrations, annotated photographs, presentations, and instructional videos.
- Gather, verify, and refine technical information from engineering designs, component data, bills of materials, prototypes, test units, and subject-matter experts.
- Collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, product, regulatory, service, support, and customer-facing teams to ensure documentation is accurate, practical, and aligned with product needs.
- Validate procedures hands-on using prototypes or production-representative units, ensuring instructions are safe, complete, and easy to follow.
- Support documentation needed for product safety, regulatory approvals, global market access, design reviews, customer discussions, and engineering updates.
- Manage document reviews, approvals, revisions, publication, traceability, version control, and updates linked to product changes or feedback.
Qualifications: ABOUT YOUR SKILLS
- Experience in technical writing, engineering documentation, service documentation, or product training.
- Ability to translate complex engineering or product information into clear, structured, and easy-to-follow content.
- Good understanding of hardware, mechanical, electrical, or electromechanical products, assemblies, interfaces, and service procedures.
- Experience creating installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, upgrade, repair, visual instruction, or training content.
- Confidence working with engineering drawings, component data, bills of materials, prototypes, technical specifications, and subject-matter experts.
- Ability to create or support technical diagrams, illustrations, annotated photographs, and instructional videos.
- Strong attention to technical accuracy, detail, document control, version management, and review workflows.
- Comfortable working hands-on with prototypes, evolving product designs, and changing priorities.
- Strong collaboration skills, with the ability to work across engineering, product, manufacturing, regulatory, service, and customer-facing teams.
- Excellent written and spoken English.
EDUCATION & QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent qualification in technical communication, engineering, industrial design, multimedia, or a related discipline.
- Professional certification in technical communication, instructional design, product training, or multimedia production is an advantage.
- Experience with regulated products, certification-related documentation, accessibility, safety, or compliance documentation is an advantage.
- Additional languages are an advantage.
