About MR MARVIS
MR MARVIS is an Amsterdam-based menswear brand, dedicated to creating the perfect shorts, trousers and tops. As a Certified B Corporation, we’re proud to be part of a community of companies working together for change, and taking part in collective action to advocate for a shared goal of a global economy that benefits people and the planet.
What started in 2016 with three founders has now grown into a team of 300+ people representing 40+ nationalities. Having established a strong online presence across Europe, we’re now growing our international retail network. Today, you’ll find us in cities such as Amsterdam, Berlin, Paris and London.
We make slow fashion, with timeless design and craftsmanship at the centre. We are dedicated to doing better every day, creating value for our team, our suppliers, our customers, and everyone who interacts with our business.
What you’ll do
As Junior Financial Controller, you’ll work closely with our Financial Controller, supporting day-to-day financial control while gradually taking ownership of recurring processes.
You’ll review store costs, production data and inventory movements, investigate differences and help keep our financial information accurate and complete.
- Daily Control & Closing: Support daily financial controls and month-end closing, building towards independently managing recurring control activities.
- Production & Stock Analysis: Review production results and inventory movements, investigate unexpected variances and help improve the processes behind them.
- VAT Compliance Support: Prepare information for our external tax advisors and carry out initial checks on monthly and quarterly VAT returns.
- Retail & Store Cost Control: Review store costs including rent, service charges, cleaning and local taxes, investigating unexpected differences and helping ensure costs are recorded correctly.
- Year-End Audit & Reporting: Support the preparation of annual financial statements under Dutch GAAP and prepare clear documentation for our external auditors.
- Goods Movement Postings: Manage goods-movement and stock-adjustment postings while this process is being automated in Odoo, helping maintain accuracy during the transition.
What success looks like in 6 months
Solid Foundation in Daily Operations: You confidently handle core daily controls, including store-cost checks and routine ledger reviews, with limited supervision.
Connected & Navigating the Business: You’ve built good relationships across MR MARVIS and know who to involve when financial or operational differences need investigating.
