The opportunity
Single Point of Contact within HV Products for manufacturing philosophy and execution pertaining to Control and Protection Electrical Cabinets for Power System Substations. Responsible to provide manufacturing methods to optimise resource use, minimise waste and maintain Quality standards.
Scope of Products include but are not limited to: GIS, PASS, DTB, LTB, GCB, MECB, BESS.
How you'll make an impact:
- Strong collaboration with the HV Control & Protection System Expert, ECAD Solution Owner, local Industrial Engineering Teams, Internal and External Local Control Cubicles (LCC) Vendors.
- Sharing manufacturing knowledge with Secondary Design Engineers so that they are more effective in defining the LCCs to be manufactured/assembled.
- Analyse International Specification/User requirements for Manufacturing requirements for Local Control Cubicles (LCCS).
- Product-wise (GIS, PASS, DTB, LTB, GCB, MECB, BESS etc)
- National standard-wise à UL (ANSI), CSA and IEC. Potential use of IEC components for American-UL market
- Identify gaps, propose methods to close these gaps
- Ensure conformity with full documentation (type tests if needed)
- Review customer specifications across HV for preparing a standardised Secondary LCC Manufacturing Solution.
- Propose harmonisation steps for different standards between different units
- Support proposal of new component suppliers to existing Clients’ approved material lists
- Apply Lean Methods and review/implement best practices with LCC vendors
- Thorough knowledge in interpreting electrical engineering schematics and how to relate them to the manufacture of LCCs.
- Mechanical knowledge with regards LCC Enclosure design and fabrication including but not limited to: ingress protection (IP and NEMA ratings), mechanical impact protection (IK code), corrosion protection classes, for enclosures.
- Provide guidelines to ensure the effective use of tools, plant and equipment in the manufacture/assembly of LCCs.
- Liaise with LCC Vendors as to input requirements needed by them to produce LCCs more efficiently, safely and to Hitachi Energy’s minimum Quality expectations.
- Drive Continuous Improvement ideas within field
- Define minimum requirements and best practices in LCC Manufacturing and Testing Processes and safety aspects.
- Collaborate with BU’s of GA, GI, TR and Service
- Look for synergies, reduce variation of components within HV
- Provide input steering for R&D projects within the domain of Control & Protection LCC Manufacture/Assembly.
- Challenge existing philosophy and align with best practices
- Support SCM when new LCC supplier to be reviewed for future on-boarding and in PPAP process
- Interact with stakeholders: Sales, SCM, Quality, Engineers, LCC Panel Builders and their sub suppliers, Component Vendors
- Single point of contact for Secondary Engineering community and LCC Vendors with manufacturing-related topics
- Strong collaboration with ECAD Solution Owner, Control & Protection System Expert, LCC Vendors
- Subject Matter Expert to guide Secondary Engineers within HV with regards the manufacture/assembly of LCCs.
- Lead specific development/continuous improvement projects within the field of Control & Protection LCC manufacture/assembly
- Responsible to provide manufacturing methods to optimise resource use, minimise waste and maintain Quality standards.
Your background:
- Comprehensive knowledge of manufacture of Local Control Cabinets in the field of Control & Protection in the domain of High Voltage Products (GIS, DTB, LTB. PASS, GCB, BESS).
- Thorough knowledge of implementing Protection and control schemes in substations and utilities from technical documentation including but not limited to Panel design and building, lean methods, continuous improvement.
- Knowledge of E3 as an ECAD tool advantageous.
- Academic degree in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering or similar
- > 10 years in similar field.
- Fluency in English.

The minimum salary for this position in the location specified is as follows:
ITALY: starting from 52700 € gross
The final offer will be based on candidate location, skills and qualifications, experience, and aligned with internal pay structures.
