Senior Data Engineer

Highly experienced Senior Data Engineer with strong expertise in designing, building and maintaining enterprise-scale data solutions on Microsoft Azure, combined with hands-on Power BI administration skills. The candidate will be responsible for developing robust data pipelines and Lakehouse architectures using Azure Databricks and Azure Data Lake Storage, while managing and governing the Power BI platform, including workspaces, capacities, gateways, security and deployment processes. Acting as a technical lead, the role involves offering technical guidance and support to both the project team and clients, ensuring quality solutions and timely delivery. The ideal candidate will translate business requirements into scalable technical designs, drive best practices in data engineering, performance optimization and data governance, and collaborate closely with business stakeholders and cross-functional teams. Strong problem-solving, communication and stakeholder management skills, along with relevant certifications in Python, Azure and Power BI, are essential to succeed in this role.

Required* Overall 5 - 6+ years of experience in Data & Analytics, with at least 5+ years in data engineering on the Microsoft Azure platform.

• Proven experience in Power BI administration, including tenant settings, workspace and capacity management (Premium/Fabric), gateways, deployment pipelines, licensing and usage monitoring.
• Experience implementing Power BI security and governance, including row-level security (RLS), access management, sensitivity labels and Microsoft Entra ID (Azure AD) integration.
• Strong understanding of data modelling, data warehousing, Lakehouse/Medallion architecture, ETL/ELT design patterns and performance tuning.
• Ability to offer technical guidance and support to both the project team and clients, ensuring quality solutions and timely delivery.
• Experience with CI/CD for data solutions using Azure DevOps or GitHub, along with version control and release management practices.
• Excellent stakeholder management and client-facing communication skills, with the ability to translate business requirements into technical designs and delivery plans.
• Understanding of data security, compliance, data quality and governance frameworks such as Microsoft Purview.

Preferred* Admin portal and tenant settings, Premium/Fabric capacity tuning, and gateway setup and troubleshooting.

• Automating admin and governance tasks with the Power BI REST APIs, PowerShell and audit logs.
• Development skills: DAX, Power Query, semantic models, Tabular Editor and DAX Studio.
• Governance: Center of Excellence, workspace standards, report certification, licensing, and user adoption.
• Experience working in Agile/Scrum delivery models and mentoring junior engineers.
