Your opportunity
Technology plays a vital role in how we teach, learn and connect. At Southern Cross University, we're looking for a Senior Technical Support Analyst with strong audiovisual (AV) expertise to ensure our teaching spaces, meeting rooms and collaborative environments work seamlessly.
This is a hands-on role for someone who enjoys solving technical challenges, supporting people and making technology work when it matters most. From troubleshooting AV systems in teaching rooms to supporting Microsoft Teams meetings, presentations and conferencing facilities, you'll help staff and students get the most from the technology around them.
You'll work across our university campuses, providing specialist technical support for AV equipment, meeting room systems and associated technologies. You'll also contribute to system improvements, preventative maintenance, technical documentation and the resolution of complex issues, working with colleagues and vendors to deliver reliable, high-quality support.
If you're technically curious, customer-focused and enjoy being the person who can resolve a challenging problem, this is an opportunity to put your skills to work in a dynamic university environment.
You will make an impact by:
- Providing hands on AV support across teaching rooms, meeting spaces and presentation environments
- Troubleshooting audiovisual, conferencing and Microsoft Teams meeting technologies
- Maintaining and improving AV systems through testing, updates and preventative checks
- Supporting staff and students with technical guidance, training and problem resolution
- Leading complex technical escalations and working with vendors to improve system reliability
What you will bring
You'll be an experienced technical support professional with a strong understanding of audiovisual technology and a practical, solutions-focused approach. You enjoy working directly with people, diagnosing problems under pressure and ensuring technology works reliably for teaching, meetings and events.
You will be confident supporting AV and conferencing environments, including room-based presentation systems, Microsoft Teams meetings and integrated audio and video technologies. Experience with systems such as Q-SYS, Crestron or similar AV control platforms will be highly regarded.
You bring the judgement to manage complex technical issues independently, communicate clearly with users and collaborate with other technical teams when problems require a broader solution. You'll also enjoy sharing your knowledge, helping colleagues develop their skills and identifying ways to prevent recurring issues.
To succeed in this role, you will also need:
- Relevant IT, AV or electronics qualification, or equivalent experience
- Demonstrated experience in AV support, troubleshooting and user assistance
- Strong knowledge of conferencing platforms, AV equipment and system integration
- Excellent problem solving, communication and customer service skills
- A current driver’s license, willing to travel between campuses and a valid Working With Children Check
